The Devil's Nest, Saturday Evening [10/27]

Summer didn't normally work at bars. Actually, she had never worked before ever. But then Chris had to forget he had a job when he asked Lana out on a real date. She really was the best roommate ever for agreeing to take his place tonight. He totally owed her.

The Devil's Nest was open.

Summer would be happy to serve anyone, but it was risky. She couldn't even make coffee right. Good thing Musubi was there, too.

After dinner (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2212308.html), Chris and Lana decided to stop by the Devil's Nest.

It had nothing to do with Chris being worried that Summer might cost him his job.

Honest.

"So... everything's still standing," Lana said with a smile.

Chris laughed. "So far," he said. "What would you like to drink?"

"I think just a coke would be nice," she said. "And... you wouldn't be interested in dancing would you? If maybe a slow song came on?"

She couldn't help looking hopeful.

Chris ordered two sodas from Musubi and turned to Lana. "I think I can manage a slow dance."

A slow smile spread over her face. "That would be really nice."

Chris smiled back. "Just don't ask me to do anything fancy."

Summer peered curiously at Chris and Lana. She wasn't spying on them.

Honest.

Chris flashed his roommate a quick grin and mouthed 'Thank you'.

Summer smiled back and then kept her distance. Of course, she'd still keep her eye on them.

Lana wandered over to say hello to Summer when Chris excused himself to visit the bathroom.

"Hey, thanks for covering for Chris. I really appreciate it."

"It was the least I could do," Summer said, grinning at Lana.

"So... everything going okay so far tonight?" Lana asked.

Summer nodded. "It's been pretty quiet tonight. Probably for the best considering I was the one in charge."

"Quiet can be good," Lana agreed. "The bookstore where I work is usually pretty quiet and it's really nice. I can get homework done a lot of the time."

Chris was only a little nervous that Lana and Summer were talking when he got back from the bathroom. He'd also made a side trip over to get that slow song on.

He led Lana out to the dance floor. "Don't believe anything Summer said," he told her.
