Faith made sure to show up bright and early for her shift, since she'd been late last week. Freaking New Year's.

So the school had new kids. Should be interesting. Good thing they didn't card. She'd never been one to deny teenagers their booze.

Caritas. Open. And all that jazz.

"Slayer?" That certainly sounded warrior-like. He stared at the stake while he stammered. "I-listen I'm sorry if I offended you, um wow, look, there's nothing at all even remotely interesting where I come from. You kill things?"

Faith laughed and picked the stake up again. "Not gonna come after you, kid. Calm down already."

"Good to know," Lucas said, easing back to his normal emo state. "You don't kill people, right?"

"Vampires," she said, ducking the rest of the issue. "Stake's a little old-fashioned for killing people, y'know."

"Vampires," Lucas repeated, draining his beer. "Sure. Right, because what else would you kill with a stake. Can I get something, anything stronger?"

This messing-with-new-people stuff was kinda fun.

"Thanks," he said, gesturing with the glass before starting to chug it. "It's good to go to a school that drives you to drink and happens to have a bar that lets you drink."
