Groovy Tunes; Monday [ 01/12 ].

Chad was still occasionally finding pieces of broken CDs from when Nana was here on Friday scattered this way and that, although well hidden under shelves or drum kits. Really, it was Prince Oscar Pedro who found most of the remaining ones, stalking around the store, his body low and lean as it crouched close to the floor, hunting them down and then proceeding to chase and play with them all over the place. He'd lose it underneath the counter or a listening chair, and the hunt would begin again.

Chad found it utterly fascinating to watch, and his head provided a commentary as if it were all just another episode of Carnivorous Kingdom.

It had occured to her, while watching Yei play with Makejoy last night, that she had not stopped in to see Chad in a while. That, and the fact that beyond one class earlier that day, meant she was free enough to come and visit him.

With Yei in tow, of course. "Good afternoon," she called, as she stepped in, as Yei poked her head up from and mewed cheerfully enough. Hi!

Having Hinata and Yei come in was a nice little surprise. Chad lifted a hand in a wave. "Afternoon, Hinata-san, Yei-san," he greeted them.

And, although Prince Oscar Pedro was on the other side of the store at that point, he still heard Yei's meow. He stopped his tracking of an elusive early-era Britney Spears album, lifting his head with perked ears training toward the sound. Once he knew which direction she lay, he was on the move again, slow and low, creeping along bottoms on the shelves.

Hinata knelt, setting Yei neatly on the floor where the kitten promptly wound herself around Hinata's ankles purring and followed after her as she approached the counter.

She grinned slightly. "Have you been w-well, Chad-san?"

Prince Oscar Pedro had slunk his way through the shelves, now crouched somewhere hidden, with a good view of the counter. The only thing that might have given him away was the swishing of his tail, unable to contain it in his excitement for a moving target that wouldn't, as Galliano would, end up crushing him in return. He sat, and waited, for just the right moment.

Chad, meanwhile, grunted and nodded in the affirmative. "Yeah," he said. "How've you been?"

Yei continued her inspection of the area around Mommy, slowly drifting away from the counter. It was all so interesting! Mommy didn't bring her here much, and so it was still all SHINY NEW. Which, being herself, she deeply appreciated.

"Not bad," she said lightly. "A b-bit more outgoing, I think. My father would approve--I asked to be m-made TA in one of my classes, and I would never have d-done it before."

"That is good," Chad said, in clear approval. "Which class is it?"

Prince Oscar Pedro, meanwhile, was biding his time for just a little bit longer.

"Literature." She smiled. "Bennet-sensei is very kind."

Yei was just going to keep exploring. Which, coincidentally, brought her a little closer to where Prince Oscar Pedro was hiding.

"Oh, I took that class last semester," Chad noted. "She is pretty nice; I liked it."

Prince Oscar Pedro decided not to risk letting Yei get any closer and discover him, so he pushed back and promptly pounced.

"It's my favourite class s-so far," she admitted. "Though it's early yet to tell entirely."

Yei, having been not entirely not paying attention realized before he pounced her that he was coming, but not soon enough to avoid him. So she went rolling with an indignant mew and tried to bat at his head. Hihihi!

Prince Oscar Pedro let out a scratchy meow thinking that Yei shouldn't be so sensitive; he lifted a leg on her back and moved to flop on her, for she was fluffy and comfortable and yet might not try to nibble on him as much as Galliano did.

"It was one of mine," Chad told her, "so I wouldn't be surprised."

She was just going to try to lick his head then. And purr. So there! She wasn't a pillow, geez. And he was bigger than her, so really, she ought to be on top.

"She makes i-it easy to talk to her," Hinata commented, "and she doesn't say a-anything is right or wrong."

Priestly wandered in sometime after lunch. His hair was spiked straight up and dyed bright green, and he wore a yellow t-shirt with "You can READ!" written on it in green, and a pair of black cargos cropped just short of the tops of his boots, showing the dark and light green striped knee socks he was wearing for added insulation against the weather.

He was looking for a distraction from his impending non-date with Amber and her friends, and figured searching for some loud and thrashy covers of kitschy pop songs for a certain color blind insane artistic nineties girl would do the trick.

"Hey, man." He managed to avoid going with the inane 'wow, you're tall' comment, and was rather proud of himself.

Chad remembered seeing this kid at the picnic (kind of hard not to), and was actually a little glad to see him come into the music store. Really, it would have been disappointing if someone who looked like he might actually know his stuff for a change wasn't even that into music.

"Hey," he greeted back, lifting a hand.

Chad grunted a little in gratitude for the sentiment. "Thanks," he said. "Been trying to keep it to how Melody wanted it while she's away."

"Kind of," Chad said, and then squared his shoulders, pulling him up closer to his full height proudly. "I'm assistant manager."

"I'm trying to put together a mix tape for a girl from the nineties who's into New Kids on the Block. You know, bring her up to date a bit? I've got the punk and hardcore side covered, but I was hoping to find some decent pop or R&B stuff, just to give her a good overview."

Priestly had almost lost him at nineties who's into New Kids on the Block, which stopped Chad staring a bit.

But he shook his head and broke out of it. "Decent pop is sort of an oxymoron, isn't it?"
