Ichigo made it into the shop after class and started his shift by feeding Jeremy a piece of candy bar. Ichigo wasn't even sure why he'd bought the damn thing as it was way too sweet to eat first thing in the morning. Jeremy had no objections however.

"Come on," she wheedled. "It's adorable."

"No, it's not," he said stubbornly. It didn't stop him from breaking off a piece of the sandwich and handing it over to the rat. "So you'll stop," he stressed.

Jeremy didn't care about the distinction either way, he had beef sandwich.

"Awww," she said, grinning at him. "See? Isn't it cute?"

"Not really," he shrugged a shoulder and took another bite from his sandwich. "That rat has you wrapped around its um... paw. Hmph."

"Hand," she said, making a face. "They don't look like paws at all."

Ino glanced sideways at him. "What sort of wrapping do I have on you?"

"None!" he said instantly, sounding offended. "I'm not wrapped around anything!"

He so was.

She nudged him with her foot. "Too bad," Ino said lightly. "You're taking me to the dance on Friday."

Poor Ichigo.

"What?" he blinked. "What dance?"

Yeah, he'd lived in a cave this week.

"The Valentine's Day dance," she said, looking as innocent as possible. "You know, the one that's being organized by the Student Council."

"Oh. Right," he didn't really know, but he nodded anyway. "Okay so um... Saturday? Should I pick you up and stuff?"

"Friday," she said, hiding the urge to laugh. "And, yes please."

Ichigo blinked. "But... It's the 13th on Friday. Why is the Valentine's dance a day early?"

"So it's on a school night, silly."

Ino wasn't the one that had set the date.

"And that makes sense how?" he questioned, not caring that she hadn't. It was confusing.

"Easier to get people to chaperon is it?"

"I suppose," he allowed and then shrugged a shoulder. "Okay so dance. For Valentine's..." He paused. "How serious do you take that?" He figured it was simplest just to ask.

That got a shrug of her shoulders. That was kinda sweet.

"Not super serious? It's only my second one ever," she said. "But I like the party and dancing thing. And wouldn't say no to, you know, more but I'm pretty happy just... going."

"So we'll go then," he nodded as if she hadn't just told him they were going and he actually had something to say about it. The rest... he'd think about it and see what he could figure out. "I'll try not to step on your toes too much."

"You'll be fine," she said, beaming at him.

"Course I will, I'm always fine," he said easily, and he picked up his cup of hot chocolate to drink. "I told Angela that I'm a shinigami."

She chewed on her lip. "Why?"

He rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't know. I didn't mean to. It was weird."

"You told her accidentally?"

"No... I just... couldn't say anything else," he blinked and that didn't make any sense.
