The gym was set up for fight club again, but with an important difference from the week before: Half of the area was devoted to the children. There were toy weapons, well-padded mats, and a large ball pit. The other half, for the adults and any students who remained their usual age, held the normal mats and safety equipment.

Ghanima looked vastly amused. "Welcome back, everyone. For the under-ten set, today we have your own special combat zone. Go have fun, and work it out amongst yourselves. I don't want to hear about it unless you're bleeding in a significant manner."

"If you drool on anything, mop it up," Tyler added, looking a little uneasy. He still wasn't comfortable around this many children. "Everyone else, we aren't assigning fights this week because there aren't enough of us to bother. Open sparring. Don't hit the kids."

"Or go play with the kids," Ghanima offered. "We won't judge you."

"We will be around if you have any questions, and I'll be near the beginner mats for the first half of the session. Now go to it."

"What's a page?" Dinah blinked at him, then shook her head. "It's okay. But you can't feed me to a dragon! Nooo! Knights save little girls! You have to save me! Except wait. No. I don't wanna be saved. I want to--" She stood up and threw her arms in the air. "RIDE THE DRAGON!"

"That's stupid!" Arthur declared with gusto, "You can't ride dragons! You fight them, like a proper knight! Which you can't be, 'cos you're a girl."

"Can too," Dinah retorted. "Mommy says I can be anything I want to be. And you can't stop me, ha!" She bent down and threw a dozen balls in the air. "DRAGON ATTACK! RAAAARRR!"

"You can't," Arthur said, throwing himself... in her general direction. "You can't be a king or nothin', and you can't be a knight!"

Dinah shrieked and dodged out of the way so he wouldn't land on her, then threw a ball at him. "Says you! Can too can too can too!"

"Are you a mental person?"

Oh, Arthur. Your tact was showing. He hit the center of the ballpit and kind of sunk into it, flailing.

"No!" Dinah wasn't sure what that was, but had the vague feeling it was bad. "I'm not a mental person you're a mental person! Big boy. Person!" Another ball thrown, and then she started giggling at his flailing.

"I am not a mental person!" he yelled, "Stop laughing!"

He was starting to sound a little desperate. Looking around to see if no one else was watching them.

Dinah was hiccuping by now, and fell down again (sploosh!) into the balls. She got enough breath to say, "I'm a sergeant! You can't order me! I'm 'mportant!"

"I can order anybody!" Arthur retorted, because that's what counted. Well, except father. He tried to flail his way towards her through the balls, but there were so many of them.

"You can say it, I don't gots to dooooo it," Dinah sang, then stood up. "I order you to be... a MOO!" She said, pointing at him importantly. Then fell down giggling again.

"Stop laughing!" he shouted, and stomped his foot. "You can't laugh at me! You've got to be serious, there's no place for friv-- frivoleetee." That was the word father used, right?

Dinah sat up again, bouncing two balls together in her hands, boing boing boing. "What's a frivol-- frivoloteeeeee? Is that a bad word?" Then she frowned. "Don't wanna be ser'ous."

"You've got to be serious," Arthur informed her, flailing his feet until he found some ground under them. "Can't be good if you're not serious. Stupid girl."

"'m not stupid! You're stupid, stupid!" Dinah yelled back it him, then pouted. "Booooooooring. Serious. Don't wanna! I'm having fun!"

Lie back and *sploosh* all the balls again.

"I'm not having fun," Arthur told her. He decided she wasn't worth his time. "Because I'm being serious properly."

"Boooooring! You sound like a grown-up," Dinah accused him. "Stoppit! This ball pit is for kids."

"I'm not a child, I'm a page," Arthur said, and lifted his chin haughtily. "You're just a stupid girl."

"I'm a smart girl, my mommy and my babysitters and my teacher say so, and girls are way better than boys 'cause we can behave," Dinah told him as haughtily as a five-year-old could. "And you're not a page, pages are in books! You're not a book!"

Then she belly-flopped back into the balls, making swimmy motions. "Save meeee! Save me from the prince-boyyyy!"

"You're stupid," Arthur repeated, "I'm above stupid people. I'm going to go training." Stupid girls. He turned on his heel and tried to stalk away.

Yes, through the balls.

"PBbttttttttttttttt!" Dinah blew a raspberry at his back as he slogged. "Go do training! By yourselfs! Yeah!"

Flop and flail. "Drowning! Drooooowwwwniinnnnngg!"
