Atlas Gym, Fandom Fight Club [Sunday Evening]

The gym was set up for fight club again, but with an important difference from the week before: Half of the area was devoted to the children. There were toy weapons, well-padded mats, and a large ball pit. The other half, for the adults and any students who remained their usual age, held the normal mats and safety equipment.

Ghanima looked vastly amused. "Welcome back, everyone. For the under-ten set, today we have your own special combat zone. Go have fun, and work it out amongst yourselves. I don't want to hear about it unless you're bleeding in a significant manner."

"If you drool on anything, mop it up," Tyler added, looking a little uneasy. He still wasn't comfortable around this many children. "Everyone else, we aren't assigning fights this week because there aren't enough of us to bother. Open sparring. Don't hit the kids."

"Or go play with the kids," Ghanima offered. "We won't judge you."

"We will be around if you have any questions, and I'll be near the beginner mats for the first half of the session. Now go to it."

"Says my father!" Arthur yelled, throwing something nerfy at him, "He's the king!"

Priestly made it to the pit and started throwing balls back at Arthur. "We're in 'Merica! We don't have a king!"

"That's stupid!" Arthur still had his nerf bat thing. Somewhere. He scrambled to get it before Priestly could throw too many balls at him. "Everybody's got a king!"

Priestly shoved himself over the edge of the pit and into the balls, where he could get at them to throw faster. "You're stupid! We have a pres'dent!"

"A precedent for what?" He'd heard father use the word a couple of times.

He snagged his nerf bat and swung it at the balls. Knightly!

They were playing baseballs now?

Well, that was at least a friendly game.

Priestly fired more balls in Arthur's general direction -- he was four, his aim kind of sucked -- even as he shouted. "A pres'dent of th' United States of 'Merica! And to the republic for Richard Staz, one nation under good, invisdible, with liverty and justice for all!"

Arthur wasn't interested in friendly games. "Get a stick!" he yelled, "Fight like a man!" And that made completely no sense for a precedent, unless he got precedent wrong, and he was a prince so he was never, ever wrong, so he shouted, "Have you no brain?" in his best attempt at his father's voice.

Priestly managed to get a ball aimed right between Arthur's eyes. Mostly on accident. "Don't wanna stick! You're not the pres'dent, you're not my boss! I have liverty and justice and you're a stupid-head oppressor!"

"Fight like a man!" Arthur repeated, charging forwards at the ballpit even if his head was starting to hurt from all the balls.

Priestly snorted. "No!" And he dove under the balls, squirming to get away from the edge and the insane prince kid.

Arthur crawled over the edge with his bat and heaved a mighty warrior cry. "SHOW YOURSELF!"

Priestly kicked a wave of balls at him. "GORILLA WARFARE!"

"Only girls fight without honour!" Arthur declared. He was a little caught in a magnificent storm of balls, though, and he hit at it with his bat as well as he could, sending all of one back at Priestly. Kind of.

It was a weak hit.

Priestly popped his head out of the balls just in time to take the weak hit to the forehead. He scowled. "Gorilla warfare is honor -- uh -- ful! It's just sneaky!"

"Sneaky is not honourable," Arthur countered, throwing a ball at him with his hand now that he was visible. "Coward!"

"Fart-breath!" Priestly countered. He took the second hit to the head and decided that sneakiness was the better part of valor, or something, and dove back under.

Priestly decided he didn't care if Arthur thought he was a coward. After all, he was in the ball pit. Which was where he wanted to be.

He sent another wave of balls at Arthur. This was fun.

This wasn't fun, and also not the way it was supposed to go. People were supposed to listen to him, including the other pages, even when they had mock-fights. If Arthur said stop, they had to stop.

He dove straight into the next wave, flailing his limbs around in the way he now knew would get him closer to Priestly. Teach him a lesson.

Hey, why was he coming after him? Priestly had won! He was the winner! The game was over!

Priestly hadn't won!

Arthur always won anyway. Or tried to. He did!

He slogged on until he was in tackling distance and then tackled.

Considering all the balls, it was a little hard, but he really put his mind to it.

Priestly's flailing hand just happened to make a fist as he was suddenly tackled.
