The gym was set up for fight club again, but with an important difference from the week before: Half of the area was devoted to the children. There were toy weapons, well-padded mats, and a large ball pit. The other half, for the adults and any students who remained their usual age, held the normal mats and safety equipment.

Ghanima looked vastly amused. "Welcome back, everyone. For the under-ten set, today we have your own special combat zone. Go have fun, and work it out amongst yourselves. I don't want to hear about it unless you're bleeding in a significant manner."

"If you drool on anything, mop it up," Tyler added, looking a little uneasy. He still wasn't comfortable around this many children. "Everyone else, we aren't assigning fights this week because there aren't enough of us to bother. Open sparring. Don't hit the kids."

"Or go play with the kids," Ghanima offered. "We won't judge you."

"We will be around if you have any questions, and I'll be near the beginner mats for the first half of the session. Now go to it."

"Prince?" Tamara frowned. "That's you?"

"Yes," Arthur said, shooting her a look that was nobly affronted, "That's me."

"Just 'cause you're a prince don't mean you can order people." Actually it kind of did, Tamara. "You should ask. Like Barden!"

"Father says yes it does," Arthur told her imperiously, because everything father said was right.

"Barden says asking's better," Tamara retorted, matching his tone.

"Then he has no brain!"

Sounding very much like daddy dearest. Uther was a very bad influence.

"He does so!" Tamara frowned. "You gotta have a brain to be in charge." And Barden was in charge of everything, as far as she knew. Except maybe bath time.

"He can't be in charge if he just asks things," Arthur shot back, "'Cos then he has no authoritee! You gotta shout at people or they'll come and kill you."

"He is so in charge!" Tamara insisted. "He got Mama and Papa and Eirene and Blysse and everyone to come with him and make the sett'ment."

"You weren't attacked then," Arthur said, with absolute certainty. "Father says there's enemies everywhere and you can't be nice to people, so you're lying, girl."

"I am not lying! And you're... you're... unz'ranic, you gundark!" before yesterday she only knew one bad word. Now she knew two. Thank you, Tahiri, for being such a good influence.

"Liar!"

There were so many liars and stupid girls around here. "Leave!"

"Am NOT! You leave!"

"You're the one who's lying, and I'm the prince," Arthur said. Sure, he wouldn't be crowned crown prince until he was really really old and of age, but the point stood.

"I am not lying, and so what if you're a prince? Princes are unz'ranic, anyway!" Which wasn't precisely true, but then, her view on the matter was somewhat skewed.

Arthur tried to think of what father would do in this situation. He thought really hard. "You're dumb," is what he came up with, "'Cos I'm the prince, I can have you executed for being a dumb tart."

There were a lot of words Arthur knew that Uther should not find out about.

"You're not the prince of here," Tamara rolled her eyes. "So you can't have me executed."

"I said it was mine," Arthur replied, "I'm going to have a flag comm-- commish. Made."

"You can't just say it's yours, unless you're exploring and making a sett'ment like Barden," and he'd said Barden had no brain which was mean and dumb and wrong and therefore he wasn't like him at all (even if they were both princes) which meant he couldn't be an explorer. Obviously.

"Yes, I can," he told her, "I'm going to be king one day, and then the whole world will have to listen to me."

Arthur still had some skewed perceptions about how big Camelot really was. One day, they would probably warp into skewed perceptions about how big Camelot really should be, but history was going to forgive him for that.

"King of Camelot," Tamara pointed out. "That's not the whole world. Barden's Papa is king of Hawk Haven and Barden don't gotta listen to him."

"Then I'll make Camelot be the whole world," Arthur retorted, smartly, "And I'm starting with here!"

"No you're not!" Tamara stomped a tiny foot. "I'm not living in Camelot. It's a silly place!"

"Camelot's not silly!"

Why was everyone here so bloody stupid? "It's got knights, and honour, and fortitude-" Arthur mostly knew that fortitude was a good thing- "And it takes care of everyone ever except witches and evil things."

"Mama and Papa and Barden and Eirene take care of me just fine," Tamara insisted. A beat, then: "what's a witch?"
