The gym was set up for fight club again, but with an important difference from the week before: Half of the area was devoted to the children. There were toy weapons, well-padded mats, and a large ball pit. The other half, for the adults and any students who remained their usual age, held the normal mats and safety equipment.

Ghanima looked vastly amused. "Welcome back, everyone. For the under-ten set, today we have your own special combat zone. Go have fun, and work it out amongst yourselves. I don't want to hear about it unless you're bleeding in a significant manner."

"If you drool on anything, mop it up," Tyler added, looking a little uneasy. He still wasn't comfortable around this many children. "Everyone else, we aren't assigning fights this week because there aren't enough of us to bother. Open sparring. Don't hit the kids."

"Or go play with the kids," Ghanima offered. "We won't judge you."

"We will be around if you have any questions, and I'll be near the beginner mats for the first half of the session. Now go to it."

"Now that you've said that, it's going to go out of its way to try," Nathan joked, crossing his arms over his chest. "Just watch. Give it a week or two. When we least expect it."

Fandom? Naaah.

He was grinning, at least.

"Just enough time for me to start getting bored again!" said Daisy, delighted with this prediction. "Perfect!"

"You're an interesting one," Nathan decided then and there, to hell with worrying about being forward. "You say you frequent the bar?"

Of course Daisy realized that interesting could go either way, but, of course, she decided to take it in the good way, giving Nathan a smile to match. "Some weeks more than others," she admitted, "but I try to make it in at least once a weekend."

"The weekends? Perhaps I'll see you there, sometime." Oh, no. He totally wasn't plotting to frequent the bar more often. Really. "Possibly with fewer children running about."

"You should have seen the place on Friday," said Daisy, shaking her head a little. "Or, really, any Friday. Friday's a good day to see the place."

Because now she could make sure she popped in on Friday. And subtlety was totally her thing today, really.

Algren was something of a fan of her particular shade of subtlety.

"Fridays, hm?" He raised his eyebrows as though he was thinking that over. Right. As if he had to think that over. "You know, I happen to think that Friday is an excellent day of the week for patronizing the local bars. Possibly around... Seven? Seven-thirty?"

He wasn't so terribly subtle himself, really.

Subtly was highly overrated, anyway.

"I've always felt," said Daisy, "that seven-thirty is an excellent time."

"Well, then perhaps we might just happen to bump into one another this Friday night at the bar, around seven-thirty. Purely by chance, of course."

Of course.

"Perhaps we will," Daisy agreed. "We could only be so lucky."

"Well, that's the flip side of the coin on this island, isn't it? Every now and again, there's a bit of luck involved as well." Nathan's smile was positively glowing. "Provided we don't drown in children first."

A pause. More smiling. "I'll see you Friday, then, should Fandom see fit."

Subtlety: Completely unnecessary.
