Steve was at the bar with a beer, waiting for someone and glad the semester was over. Now he wouldn't be embarrassed again until--well, probably some time after his companion showed up.

"Congratulations on surviving your class," Tony said, taking a seat next to him.

"Thank you," Steve said. "They were a good group."

Tony nodded like he agreed with that. "Now. About that drink you owe me."

Steve sighed and cursed himself for enabling alcoholism. "What do you want?"

"I'm in the mood for a gin and tonic."

Steve ordered a gin and tonic from Tino and waited until it was delivered to take another pull of his beer and ask, "How's business?"

"Better than last year," Tony replied. "The cell phone one of my employees designed is selling well in Japan."

Steve made an interested noise and said, "I should probably get a new phone sometime. I hear they play music and stuff now."

"...Are you trying to get me upset with your complete lack of technological savvy?"

Steve snorted. "No. You should be glad I even have a cell phone. I didn't want the thing, but I used to be on-call 24/7, you know."

"I'm sure it was a complete hassle to be able to call anyone without using a pay phone."

There was a pause before he had to ask, "Do they still have those?"

"Some places," Steve said with a shrug. "Some people don't want people to be able to call them anywhere, any time."

"...why not?" Yes, Tony was lost.

"Because they value their privacy?" Steve suggested.

...yeah, Tony was still under the assumption this was madness. "Like who?"

"Well, me, if I hadn't needed one for work, and then moved to an island where weird things happen," Steve said with a shrug.

"Like zombies?"

"Like zombies," Steve agreed. "Tyler recover all right? He's not...mad at me or anything, is he?"
