Park, Thursday Morning

With graduation this weekend, the school expected most of the graduation guests to begin arriving today. So, to make sure they felt welcomed, the student council had set up a small gathering in the park where the guests could arrive, mingle and relax before heading off with their guests and friends.

There were finger foods on a long table and nametags on the table beside it. Chairs were set out for people to sit and talk if they so wanted.

It was time to get graduation weekend rolling!

[This is just a tiny mingling posts for all grad guests, alums, expats, students, teachers and townies to meet up and talk a little. There's going to be a garage sale later and we encourage you all to go to that as well!]

There was a long pause, filled with Adah staring at the Eel with her wide, unreadable eyes.

"I missed reanimated corpses?" she finally asked, an undercurrent of disappointment swimming below the drawl.

"Pictures wouldn't do much good, anyway," Adah said, with a small sigh. "If you'd have gotten anything for me, I'd have wanted a specimen."

"Maybe I could convince one of the Caritas zombies to contribute something, then. Reanimated tissue would give me something to do over the summer. A nice pet project."

"If that's what it takes to secure a sample of reanimated tissue," Adah said, "it might be worth it. I had intended to spend some time with my boyfriend, but if he's too busy with graduating, I might have to find alternate methods of spending my time."

"But the time you spend trying to get a sample could be time spent with me," Adah pointed out. "Unless we were to go together, and now that I think about it, that might be something to save until after I've had the chance to meet your father."

"I don't have to, you know," Adah said, lifting an eyebrow.

"Makes you nervous?" Adah asked, snorting slightly.

"Being nervous is not the same as being afraid," Adah pointed out. "I told you, I'm used to fathers not liking me. Doesn't stop even my brain from releasing endorphins to make the situation both psychically and mentally exhausted."

She paused, slightly, looking at him with a faint grin. "But at least you set the bar nice and low for these things."

"Oh, have him meet Toby first," Adah decided. "Then I won't even have to try to impressive him."

Not that she--

Dog, who was she kidding? She felt a twitch in the fingers of her right hand again, her other fingers drifting over to lightly rub the nearly invisible red dot over her vein. She was used to fathers not liking her; it was the type of thing that, conversely to her use of it, meant maybe it'd be nice to have that change.

"And it's a pity you didn't invite Orleanna, too. Then I'm sure we could have all sat down to a nice little family lunch."

Nice little family lunch said with the sort of acidity reserved for root canals and having your limbs torn off or, to be topical about the whole thing, eaten alive by swarms of fireants.

"She'd have shown up if I asked her to," Adah said, plaintively shrugging a shoulder. "Glaring opportunities aside."

"At least that'd give us plenty of time to ourselves..."

"I like that idea," Adah said, finding herself smiling a little despite herself. "Any plans for the rest of the day?"

Adah lightly shook her head. "Nothing. Especially if it means not moving around a lot."
