The laptop was back out today, and Lacey had finally been able to get the pandas in MyZoo. Lacey had also spent most of the previous day watching a marathon of Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel, which meant that there was a lot of cooing over the Breeding screen.

Because those virtual Facebook animals had really wanted to have facts about their own feeding habits and proximity to extinction related to them by a well-meaning but ditzy coffeeslinger. Really.

Luke's is open, and in no danger of not passing a health department hygiene check (hopefully), since all the animals are virtual. Right.

Who knew that learning to fight with a knife worked up such an appetite? He ordered one of each of the things on the special board. He wanted something different, and had figured out that pointing at things was the easiest way to order if he didn't understand what it said.

"That's a lotta food, dude," Bobby said as he watched this ordering process.

"Tis how he'll grow," George teased, relaxing back into the booth. It was beginning to feel like this was their spot. Almost like if they were at the Dancing Dove.

"You guys can have some if you want," Kyle offered. "George was teaching me how to fight using a knife," he explained to Bobby.

"You know how to knife-fight?" Bobby was more curious than surprised. Of all his friends here, George was definitely the most likely to know how to do so, after all.

"Aye," George said, grinning at Bobby's curiosity. "Tis a bit of a necessity in th' Lower City. An' Kyle here said he'd been wantin' t'learn."

"I can shoot and blow things up okay," he was a damned good shot. Explosives needed some work, "but I never got a chance to learn to fight with only a knife. I figure it's something I should know."

"Wow," Bobby shook his head. "I don't really know how to use knives or guns or any of that stuff. Never needed to, I guess." Another truth that wasn't quite the whole truth.

The half-lie caught George's interest, and he raised an eyeborw curiously at Bobby. "Never?"

Who needed weapons when you could just make them out of thin air? Or, okay, technically out of the moisture in the air but details. "My world just isn't that dangerous?" he tried. Okay, that was most definitely a lie.

"Every world is dangerous," Kyle protested. "Don't you have crime?"

"Or tisn't a danger you're worried about?" George asked, taking a shot in thw dark and still watching Bobby quizzically.

"Not... really?" Bobby said, jumping on that like it was a lifeline. There was crime and then there was supervillan crime. Getting mugged wasn't as much of a concern, no.

"Haven't you ever wanted to learn to defend yourself anyway?" Kyle asked, genuinely curious.

"Or d'ye have magic t'do that wit'?" George asked innocently.

"It's not magic!" Bobby blurted out without thinking.

That silence around the booth? Yeah, awkward. "What's not magic?" Kyle asked patiently, his voice much lower than Bobby's had been.

"Not that there's aught wrong wit' magic" was George's (also quieter) contribution.

"Well, no, I guess not," Bobby shrugged, actually remembering to lower his own voice too. Dr. Strange was kind of, well, strange but still one of the good guys after all. "But this is more- it's just something I can do?" Real helpful explanation, Bobby.

"I'm confused."

George was less confused and more smug though he was hiding it. "How does that work?"

Yeah, he knew how some of it worked, hello Sight.

Well, Bobby didn't have much of a clue how the genetics part worked (he tended to fall asleep in class whenever the Professor got to that part) but he did know about how his powers worked ~~or he thought he did anyway since he hasn't spent enough time around Emma yet~~. "I make ice," he said quietly at least this time remembering to make sure no one could overhear, grabbing a water glass and touching the water inside with one index finger. Within a moment it was frozen solid.

Kyle watched, eyes widening as the water hardened into ice. "That is so cool."

George snickered at the wordplay though he wasn't sure Kyle meant it. "Tis," he agreed, reaching to touch the outside of the glass. "Freezin' even. Tis a useful trick, aye?"

"It comes in handy," Bobby shrugged, trying for nonchalant.
