Dite's Decadent Delights; Friday [ 09/11 ].

Typically, Valentine didn't bring her laptop with her to Dite's shop; there were usually more than enough things to keep her entertained and distracted from her tendency to browse, but today was an exception. To her credit, though, she was working on writing something, but as to what it was, she wasn't about to tell anyone.

She was not about to neglect her dedication for featuring thematic devices. Quite the opposite, in fact. For today, on display at the counter, she had the Sinulator, a device that you plugged into your computer so that someone else, over the magicks of teh Intrawebz, could control the vibe and movement of it. There was even a name involved in the development of such products: teledildonics.

The Internet: not only for porn, but taking it to new interactive levels. It was beautiful, really.

Maybe if you're nice, she'd even hook up the Sinulator to her own computer for a demonstration.

It had been a long time since Jack bothered Valentine outside class. If finding her on Friday meant going to the shop that still made his Victorian ears go a little pink -- he'd call that yet another piece of his education.

"Hello," he said, before the Sinulator grabbed his attention. "Do I even want to ask what that is?"

He understood the basic shape. The wires were the confounding bit.

Valentine couldn't help grinning a little as the device succeeded to snag attention. "Teledildonics," she said, savoring the word. "Another shining example of how even the most advanced technology will be used for the most carnal instincts. That is the Sinulator. Through it and the wonders of the Internet, someone controls the vibration and the speed."

Modern times were confusing.

"You're joking," was what Jack said first, and more or less automatically. "It's like making love to someone from a distance? I suppose I'm supposed to say technology is amazing, but that just sounds uncomfortable."

"Apparently, some people find actual human contact more uncomfortable," Valentine said, "or just that it's simply easier to avoid it when you can just rely on this. If you don't believe me, maybe we can hook it up and I'll show you how it works. But I wouldn't want to make your primitive mind explode, Jack."

With a snort as Jack took the bluff, Valentine grinned, and held out her hand. "You still have that Blackberry phone on you?"

"If you trust me to disappear with it for a few minutes, anyway," Valentine said. "I figured it's be easier for me to be at the helm since I already know how the controls work."

Leto didn't particularly need anything from the shop, but he was walking through the town and remembered that Valentine worked there today, so he stopped by.

He wasn't even sure he wanted to know what was on display on the counter.

"Good morning, Valentine."

Valentine gave him a smile as he came in. "Hello, Leto. Sorry, no free vibrating fish for your step mother today."

Valentine looked at Leto, an amused smirk on her face. "You gave it to Turtle," she stated. "And you're still in one piece?"

"I gave it wrapped up in paper," he replied cheerfully. "She didn't open it in my presence. But she hasn't showed up to try and kill me yet."

"Ah," Valentine replied, not as gravely as she would have liked, but she found it hard to be too grave with Leto's tone so cheerful. "So she's plotting."
