Groovy Tunes, Tuesday
One thing Jonothon had to say for this island, at least it wasn't lacking in opportunity for employment that suited him perfectly. All he had to do in order to get his head on straight was come in to work, go through the racks of CDs, and pick out some of his feel-good music.
This did not, sadly, go quite according to plan.
//... Pearl Jam never did a cover of Carol of th'Bells.//
Nirvana? No. Bush? No. Anything? Anything at all?
//I hate this naffin' island.//
Groovy tunes was open, and it was festive, like it or not.
[OCD-free, as usual, and open. I'll be back to catch pings after work.]

He shrugged as he straightened up. There was a little pink blotch on his forehead from all of the thumping. He shrugged again.
//Too quiet, I suppose.//

... which wasn't the most incredibly relevant bit of information she had ever shared in her life, no. She looked him over, trying to figure out if he was in better shape than he was last night, and noticed the pink patch from the headbanging.
She reached up a hand. "Here, let me see your forehead."

No, he stayed still. He wasn't feeling much better than yesterday, but at least today he was better at hiding it.
"Dare I ask how one goes about cheating at Scrabble? Does he make up entirely new words out of all of the little leftover bits that don't quite fit?"

Those hazel eyes were distracting. Didi was better than yesterday, mostly, as long as she didn't think about it.
"Hmmm? Oh, he -- he makes things up and says they're Hindi," she said. "And he argues with me about being racist if I point out you aren't supposed to play foreign words."

Nefarious, Jono. So very nefarious.
[ooc: These are totally the same punctuation Jono-talky marks I've been using all along. *waves hands*]

Toooootally normal conversation. Yay.

And then Carol of the Bells reached another heart-warming swell. And Jono could very well have just turned the stereo off, but giving it a good thump with one fist seemed so very much more satisfying, and so that was the route he took.
... It had about the same effect, at any rate. He'd poke at it to make certain that he hadn't destroyed the thing after close.
//You know, I actually liked that song before today?//

She scrunched up her nose. "I sound like an idiot so I am changing the subject. Were you going to go see the play?"
no subject
//I'd been considering it,// he admitted. //Ben had mentioned it in th'library last week, and it sounded... Well, it sounded like Shakespeare, really. And Shakespeare's not terrible or anything, and there are only so many other things to do around here anyhow, and...// And he was babbling. //Did yer want to go?//
no subject
And it didn't involve babbling about nothing or staring at each other and pretending they hadn't slept together while they were insane, so -- "Yes. Yes, I want to go. I like the play, anyhow. Especially since it's my brother's fault to start with."
no subject
"Yer brother's fault? Now I hope yer realize that I've got to ask."
Not because of the opportunity to steer the conversation into more new and shiny random directions, but because, wow, curiosity? Totally piqued.

She paused, smiling slightly at the foolishness. "So Morpheus gave him greatness. He just asked for two plays in return. This is the first one."
no subject
Anyhow, it wasn't gobshite, and he knew it, and that was enough.
//Yer family gets around,// he noted. Which, really, rather went without saying.
[... I think SOW broke my telepathic powers. *eyes last ping*]

"That's the idea, yeah."

... Compared to so many things that were weirder.
//I liked that one, actually.//

//Caliban,// Jono decided, after a moment's consideration. //For starters. Never quite fit in, but fit in perfectly, yer know? I always kind of admired that, to some degree. Even if th'bloke wasn't quite right in the head, either.//
But then, who was right in the head, anymore?
//'I cried to dream again.'//

Willie Nelson's Carol of the Bells. Garth Brooks' Carol of the Bells. Toby Keith's Carol of the Bells. Dolly Parton's Carol of the Bells.
This section was starting to kind of terrify him, actually.
//Which is interesting, considering he's got so much weighing against him in th'first place.//
