Once Jaina had confirmed that Caritas did in fact have power (Seriously, Fandom? Town hall apparently didn't have power but thae bar did? Guess we know where priorities lie.), she set out to work super early with what supplies she could get to bring with her. Once she got there, she started setting up, figuring that it was either going to be very busy with people flocking to where there was electricity, or very quiet with no one wanting to venture into the cold. But if people did show up, Little Miss I Have Worked In Refugee Camps was going to make sure they had anything they might need.

She set Tino to work making blanket forts in the lounge with the explanation of "It's warm, just do it," and got the bar set up mainly for hot chocolate, cider, etc.

Yeah, that was proof Jaina definitely needed a second job.

"So long as it's effective, you can call it what you like," he replied, deciding to put on the best fake happiness he could manage for his outing. "My day has been bloody fantastic. How's yours?"

"A little chilly," she said, moving on to the Bailey's and sliding it over when she was done. "Hopefully that will make your day bloody fantasticer, or at least make you not care."

He tested the heat of the coffee before taking a large gulp. So not going to get him drunk enough. "You know, the chilly wasn't so bad. There were fires and plenty of time to read."

"And yet you're in the one place I know of with full electricity and a television," she noticed.

"No, I'm in the one place I know of with a full bar and people to pour things that will fix my life for a few hours," he answered, seeing no point in being oblique for once.

"Want to talk about it to the person who's pouring things to fix your life for a few hours?" She had never done much listening as a bartender, but she did remember it being an unspoken part of the job description.

"First, do you listen to the radio?" Griff asked, wanted to see what sort of background this girl had.

"When I'm around to hear it. What I miss I can usually piece together with other broadcasts," she answered.

"Then you may or may not have heard bits about my getting in a fight one day and teleporting the next," he said matter-of-factly. "Today's lines should read something about picking a fight with a gel and getting hammered, if I'm lucky."

Jaina was already starting on a second drink for him. "Did you at least win the fight?"

"Yep," he nodded, finishing off his coffee in a huge gulp. "I'm talented."

The second one was passed to him immediately. "This one's on me." She wasn't hugely good at sympathy, especially with people she barely knew, but that much she could do.

"Thanks, now I feel pathetic but in a way that earns me drinks." Which was better than just feeling pathetic.

"The pathetic feeling should go away, but it'll probably take till about a day after the hangover," she advised. Not that she knew anything about that.
