Once Jaina had confirmed that Caritas did in fact have power (Seriously, Fandom? Town hall apparently didn't have power but thae bar did? Guess we know where priorities lie.), she set out to work super early with what supplies she could get to bring with her. Once she got there, she started setting up, figuring that it was either going to be very busy with people flocking to where there was electricity, or very quiet with no one wanting to venture into the cold. But if people did show up, Little Miss I Have Worked In Refugee Camps was going to make sure they had anything they might need.

She set Tino to work making blanket forts in the lounge with the explanation of "It's warm, just do it," and got the bar set up mainly for hot chocolate, cider, etc.

Yeah, that was proof Jaina definitely needed a second job.

Jaina looked thoughtful, finally asking, "Are you ever going to tell me what exactly what kind of team you know him from?"

"Probably not," Ronon shrugged. "If you broke up it'd be different." But as it was, she could influence him and that was Bad.

"We did break up." It just didn't stick.

"Thought you were still trying it?" Context is important, Jaina.

"Trying it is not the same as him being my boyfriend." Granted, not much had changed there besides the fact that they weren't calling each other by titles, but she was not above seeing if it would work.

"Uh huh." She was so one of those ancienty chicks in disguise with her double-talk. No wonder Sheppard liked her.

"Why's whether or not I'm with him an issue?" she wondered. She doubted she'd get anything out of him if that was his response, but it didn't stop her from being curious about the reasoning.

"He'll tell you," Ronon shrugged. Even if it would be another ten years or so if his math worked right.

"I don't know about that. He's pretty good with all that mission secrecy." Which she understood completely, though it always gave her questions.

Ronon snorted, thinking the mission secrecy involved a lot of really bad lies. "You believe I'm a contractor?"

"I've never figured out what you are," Jaina admitted. "You don't exactly scream military to me, but that doesn't tell me much."

Oh Jaina, how little you can tell from looks. "Not that kind of military. I was a soldier in the Satedan army. Got picked up by the bad guys when they razed my planet. Ever hear of runners? They jammed a tracker in my neck and sent me out to fight for my life. Nine years later your boy set me free." As his own personal history, Ronon always thought it was his decision if he shared it, not the SGC's.

Huh. "And he found you on your planet?" This was where things didn't exactly fit together for her, and she was beginning to think it was just because she didn't know what the military here was actually doing. What with the deep space telemetry work keeping John out of contact in Colorado.

She really should've taken his class. Then there'd be visual aids for him to remind her of.

"No. Runners use the Ring of the Ancestors to go between worlds. Sheppard didn't tell you what he was doing, huh?"

"I got the cover story," she said, figuring she could tell him that. "He's working on something to do with deep space telemetry in Colorado." And if she said it like she didn't believe a word of it, well, she believed it less than she had before.

"Deep space's right," Ronon said, hesitating after since he knew there was no way Sheppard was in Colorado. "So you're cool with him goin' off an' not telling you anything?"

"I've had to do it to him before. I get how the military works, and sometimes there are things you can't disclose to people who aren't involved," she said, shrugging. "He's already working on whatever it is that leads him to you, huh?"

"Their rules are stupid," Ronon said, having felt that way a lot. "But he'll get there in a year if stuff's the same." Ronon wondered how weird it could be to hang out with a Sheppard the same age as himself.

"So... about a week in our time, then." Huh some more. "It's weir to think about that and where does that mean he is now?" Yeah, that bit finally caught up with her.

"Ever seen Wormhole X-Treme?" Hey, it wasn't his fault the SGC had let them make a whole show about SG-1.

"I've caught parts of it." Because John had made her, and then she'd likely distracted him away from it.

"It's kinda like that, just another galaxy," Ronon said, making his point.

Well now there was staring.

"You're kidding."

"Nope." It was kind of entertaining to watch her brain break.

"This planet's space program doesn't go anywhere," Jaina protested. "How would he be doing... whatever it is- I should have paid more attention to the show." Because she so had no idea what she was talking about.
