Winter Carnival | All Day | The Park | January 31 [Post #2]

It was a new day and there was no better way to start a new day than with the continuation of the carnival. There was still snow coating the ground but the atmosphere was as lively as ever. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.

Anakin had spent months at Fight Club punching a bit below his weight class, so even with his Jedi reaction time he was too slow to move entirely out of the way.

What a lovely bruise Bel's fist would leave!

In retaliation, he aimed a combination of punches at Bel's stomach.

In a minute, he'd realize this was no way to impress his daughter, but that minute was not right now.

Said daughter had come out from her booth and was glaring at both of them. "Will you two stop it?" she snapped. "I've seen ten year olds with more dignity than a Jedi master is showing me right now."

"He's only doing this to piss me off," Anakin said, stepping away from Bel and glaring. "I won't have you used like that."

"And you keep forgetting you don't get to tell me what I can or can't do," Leia bitched. And to prove a point, she moved in front of Bel, reached up to pull his head down, and gave him a quick and angry kiss. Then she stepped back, clenched her fist, and punched him hard in the jaw before he could straighten up. "And that's for trying to use me just to get to my father," she said.

"Ow!" Bel whined, rubbing his jaw.

Mature teachers, fathers, and Jedi don't stick their tongues out at other men, no matter how tempting that might be.

"Don't mess with my kids," Anakin said instead, smirking just a little bit.

"But we're practically family," Bel said, glaring from Anakin to Leia and back again. "Seeing as I was your son's big sib and all."

"You knew my brother?" Leia exclaimed.

"I'd tell you all about him," Bel said. "But you just lost that chance, sweetheart."

"Go away," Anakin said, stepping way into Ben's personal space again. "Right now."

"Yeah, sure, whatever," Bel sneered. He was aching from Anakin's punches but was doing his best not to let it show. "Maybe next time I'll run into you when you don't have your little girl to protect you."

"Oh, we both know that's not what's stopping me," Anakin said, eyes flashing. "Run along."

Bel's eyes weren't flashing, but they were rolling. "Oooh, I'm so scared," he said, but he did walk away.

Anakin turned toward his daughter again. "Not him," he said, pointing his finger at Bel's retreating back.

"Why not?" Leia said, though she thought hitting him had proven she didn't want to be part of any ploy to piss off Anakin. At least, not a ploy she hadn't come up with herself.

Anakin needed a reason that was slightly more logical than "because it's icky and I don't like him."

"He's involved in a threesome," he went with instead. "One of his partners is a witch. It's a bad idea."

And because it was Anakin: "And he has stupid hair."

Leia couldn't help it; she burst out laughing. "Stupid hair? You're worried about his hair?"

"It's so distracting," Anakin bitched.

"Do you two have some sort of hair rivalry going on?" Leia said, still laughing.

"Oh, he wishes," Anakin said, rolling his eyes. "We've never gotten along. It's been that way for years."

Ever since Bel tried to flirt with a Padmé who taught class entirely too long ago. Anakin held grudges.

"It shows," Leia said. "You haven't grown out of it in how long now?"

Decades.

Anakin had the grace to look slightly embarrassed.

"I don't see him often."

"I think I like it," Leia decided, her lips still twitching with the urge to laugh. "It somehow makes you seem more human."

"What does? My temper?" Anakin replied, feeling something unclench inside his stomach to see that Leia wasn't entirely angry with him.

"The fact that you're holding a ridiculous grudge," Leia said, smirking. "I doubt that's going to be in any history book."

It depended entirely on the era the book had been written in.

He smiled. "Oh, I don't know," he said. "Obi-Wan and I had our share of fights."
