As Desperation Day dances went, this was probably not the most tacky ever. Of course given that it was Desperation Day, so tacky really went with the territory.

There was glitter, oh, was there ever glitter in a multitude of sparkly colours. But even more so, it seemed that the decorators had taken the 'Hearts Afire' theme literally as large cut out hearts adorned the walls. Each with a tissue paper 'flame' bursting from the top of it. Streamers in all shades of pink twisted across the ceiling, forming almost a canopy. Which hopefully would not be literally set afire. The Fire Department would probably disapprove of that. Also a lot of people's dresses would be ruined.

Let's stay away from any literal fire, okay, guys?

"So far, so good," he said, giving her a little smile and relaxing some. "Are you having a nice time tonight?"

She smiled and nodded as she glanced up at him. "Tis going fairly well 'til now," she said. "I'm not expecting that to change."

"I wish I had your confidence," he said and smiled. "Perhaps one day. For now, I'll just trust your judgment."

"I'm having a fun evening with folk I like," she said easily. "Why'd I expect not to enjoy it?"

"I've never been anyone's date before," he admitted, blushing. "I didn't know how I'd do."

She smiled and hopefully she'd not make him trip as she leaned up to kiss his cheek. "You do well," she told him quietly.

"Thank you," he said, blushing and managing not to trip. "You do too."

She grinned and slid her hand to his back. "Even if I'm forcing you to dance?"

"You're not forcing me to dance," he assured her, shaking his head. "I just don't want to step on your feet or hurt you, however ridiculous that might sound. I like being here with you."

She smiled. "As am I," she agreed softly, sliding her thumb under his collar. "And that you're not in a corner now."

"Corners aren't so bad," he told her, grinning. "You have privacy and quiet and that can be very good sometimes."

That'd be a blush colouring her cheeks, even if it'd be hard to see by this light. "You make a good point," she allowed.

"Both things are good," he compromised, rubbing her back a bit. "They both have their benefits. I like them both."

She smiled at the touch and moved a little closer. "As long as you'd not mind the company."

"I never mind your company," he assured her honestly. "I always feel better when I get to see you."

Now she was fully blushing, but she gave him a bright smile nonetheless. And leaned up to give him a quick kiss which said more than she'd be able to say right now.

Jonas didn't mind at all and only smiled once she'd kissed him. Just smiled and continued dancing.
