As Desperation Day dances went, this was probably not the most tacky ever. Of course given that it was Desperation Day, so tacky really went with the territory.

There was glitter, oh, was there ever glitter in a multitude of sparkly colours. But even more so, it seemed that the decorators had taken the 'Hearts Afire' theme literally as large cut out hearts adorned the walls. Each with a tissue paper 'flame' bursting from the top of it. Streamers in all shades of pink twisted across the ceiling, forming almost a canopy. Which hopefully would not be literally set afire. The Fire Department would probably disapprove of that. Also a lot of people's dresses would be ruined.

Let's stay away from any literal fire, okay, guys?

"As long as she stays away from the punch after it's spiked, I can put up with the cigarettes," Francine agreed.

"And we have a week 'til sun, and fun, and no classes, and oh my god I'm sick of winter and so looking forward to that."

"I can get behind the no classes and fun part." She could get behind the sun part too, but... "We're not going on the Bahamas trip, though. Arthur and Merlin are taking a trip to England, and they asked us along."

"Oooo!" Dinah looked delighted. "That'll be so cool! Home of the Brits. Fish and chips. Arthur in his semi-natural environment. Take lots and lots of pictures."

"I'm trying to picture Arthur eating fish and chips." Francine screwed her face up. "It's not working. I can see the fish." Because she'd seen him eating fish; there wasn't exactly a J,GoB on the Nexus Island. "But the chips..."

"He should learn about them. Maybe introduce them to Camelot." Dinah's smile widened. "And vinegar. Isn't that a thing with them?"

"Mmmm. Salt and vinegar." Like not having been to England would have stopped Francine from trying one of their tastiest, greasiest exports.

"There has to be more you can export to the past, too. Just not that blood pudding stuff... no, wait, Arthur already knows about that. Too bad. You can't save them." Dinah shook her head. "But you have fun in the wet green country, while we're in the Ba-ha-mas."

"At least it's not Snowmageddon like it is around here," Francine said. "I guess it's probably still cold? But somehow i can't picture arthur renting anyplace that didn't have fireplaces. and probably people to come in and light the fireplaces and toast your marshmallows for you."

"And fluff the pillows and possibly strew rose petals in your path," Dinah said. "First class all the way. That's going to be fun."

"I think that's supposed to be Merlin's job." Which required another snort at the idea of Merlin actually doing that.

Dinah gave Francine a comically worried look. "But, but. Rose petals. Think of the potential for slipping and concussion."

"Well, and Arthur could get smothered by a fluffed-up pillow, too. We wouldn't want that."

"Probably best that they pay well-trained professionals to do that. Merlin's a very skilled amateur, but he doesn't have Olympic ranking yet."

"...I think I want to see the Olympic pillow-fluffing event," Francine decided. "There's a sport even I could go out for."
