Valentine's Day Dance | Town Hall | Saturday Evening [8pm on]
As Desperation Day dances went, this was probably not the most tacky ever. Of course given that it was Desperation Day, so tacky really went with the territory.
There was glitter, oh, was there ever glitter in a multitude of sparkly colours. But even more so, it seemed that the decorators had taken the 'Hearts Afire' theme literally as large cut out hearts adorned the walls. Each with a tissue paper 'flame' bursting from the top of it. Streamers in all shades of pink twisted across the ceiling, forming almost a canopy. Which hopefully would not be literally set afire. The Fire Department would probably disapprove of that. Also a lot of people's dresses would be ruined.
Let's stay away from any literal fire, okay, guys?
[Up early for timezones.Wait for the OCD or I will STAB YOU, OKAY? is up! And thre'll be a second post up later if this one gets insanely large (well, hell, why even say 'if')]
And the magic links: Arrival/Mingling | Punch and Food | Shadowy Corners | Chaperones | Dance Floor | OOC
[It never said Friday. Rly.]

Re: Shadowy Corners
Effy leaned up closer, still deliberately holding back and lowering her voice a little. She knew the tones that got him. Learning to use her accent to her advantage, with him. "I am on my game."
Re: Shadowy Corners
"Haven't seen any proof of that," he replied, smirking. "You look on your game but that doesn't mean you're on your game. Seems to mean the opposite with you, in fact."
Re: Shadowy Corners
"Sticking it out with the glitter and hearts." Which she was sure he must hate.
Re: Shadowy Corners
"You came because I asked," he reminded her. "Bet that doesn't happen often. I must really mean something."
Re: Shadowy Corners
"Like knowing you're the only one." Okay, not just rare. Wouldn't have this sort of arrangement with anyone else around.
Re: Shadowy Corners
Alex tucked his hands into his pockets, letting her touch but keeping hands off just to let her do what she wanted. And he didn't want to tempt himself.
"That still doesn't mean," Alex said, leaning a little closer to her and smirking smugly, "that you're talented enough to get me out of here early. Guess I'm the one with that skill."
Re: Shadowy Corners
He'd barely known her at that point, and did just follow her. "Made it worthwhile, didn't I?"
Re: Shadowy Corners
Unless they argued, of course.
"Now I know you better," he said, turning his smirk into a smile, "so I get to make it a little harder even if I know it'd be fun to just leave now."
Re: Shadowy Corners
"Think you know already."
Re: Shadowy Corners
"It's a party and I'm all dressed up," he replied, turning his face towards her a bit but trying not to touch. He did lower his voice, just fine with using his own voice to his advantage. "All your vagueness doesn't make me want to go anywhere. I'm sure there's something interesting in the crowd."
Re: Shadowy Corners
"What are you hoping to find out there," she asked, tipping her head back towards the crowds, "That I can't do?"
Re: Shadowy Corners
Re: Shadowy Corners
Re: Shadowy Corners
Yes, still being stubborn and yes, being deliberately jerky with some of his comments just to see if he could provoke her. Sometimes it was difficult but he did like to try.
Re: Shadowy Corners
Re: Shadowy Corners
Definitely trying to get a rise out of her now. Hopefully he'd just be able to reign it in before it stepped over the line.
"Pleasant can have many meanings."
Re: Shadowy Corners
"And I want you," she said, making sure to ennunciate every word on that last part.
Re: Shadowy Corners
"What do you want me for?" he asked, tone teasing this time. Nothing deep or meaningful here, just a fun game and just seeing what she'd say. "Just your entertainment for the night?"
Re: Shadowy Corners
And yeah, he was a little more than just entertainment to her. Shut up.
Re: Shadowy Corners
Yeah right, he'd done it with her before. It didn't take much more than her giving some indication that she wanted him there. And she'd already done that.
"Think that's you?"

Re: Shadowy Corners
Didn't much feel like taking any risks on that count. Liked it much more when her plans panned out and he stuck with her, thanks.
