Graduation was a fun time for everyone with all the guests, cake, and hugging happening around the island.

Well, everyone but Tino. He never seemed to get to leave.

Sad.

But there was a party at Caritas tonight and Clark decided he could go the extra mile to make the lounge look a little festive. Blue and gold paper streamers and balloons awaited any graduates, birthday boys, and friends who might stop in for a drink. Or a balloon animal - if he could figure out how to make something not a snake.

That . . . really was cold. And stinging. Neither were terribly familiar sensations, but Castiel just closed his eyes against them.

They were signs that he still survived. Despite what he was sure had happened to his own world.

After a bit, he opened his eyes again and looked down. "I think it's as clean as it will get."

Chuck nodded and turned off the water and put the gun down. "Okay, I'll go get the bandages and a towel. You...order a drink or something."

"That," said Castiel, "might be the best idea you've had yet." He looked at Tino. "Do you have a bottle of Mekhong?"

They did. Castiel claimed it as his own.

Chuck came back a few minutes later and eyed the Mekhong bottle. "Interesting choice."

"I developed a taste for it in Bangkok." He took a hefty drink. "I learned my father had abandoned the world. It seemed the thing to do."

"That seems to be the place to go when your father abandons you," Chuck said, frowning. "I'm sorry you had to find that out."

"Admittedly, it did mean I no longer had to waste my time looking for Him."

"Well there's an upside." Not a very good one, but at least it was something. "Put the bottle down and stand up straight. I need you to be still for this."

Castiel did as he was told, despite the momentary urge to cling to the bottle like it was a teddy bear. "This is the bandaging part?"

He'd never been bandaged, before. The Winchesters tended to leave him to sleep it off, when he was injured or otherwise incapacitated. He found the idea rather interesting.

"Yeah," Chuck said with a nod. He decided not to mention that he didn't have a lot of experience with this, and he had mostly learned from watching Sam. Chuck figured Castiel wouldn't know the difference between a good or bad job anyway.

"It's not going to hurt a lot or anything," Chuck promised. "I just need you to be still so I don't touch the sigil by accident."

Castiel nodded. "I'd prefer not to be accidentally banished." He held his arms up and went still.

"Yeah, I'd like it if you stayed around as well," Chuck said as he got to work. Most of his focus was on what he was doing but, yes, there was the spare thought or two dedicated to the fact that Castiel actually looked pretty good under that trenchcoat. Minus the really gross wound, of course.

Jimmy had taken pretty good care of that body, yes. And Castiel hadn't managed to damage it permanently yet.

"I missed you," Castiel admitted. "I believe you would have had an . . . interesting perspective on things."

"Yeah? I'm not sure how well I'd do in those apocalyptic situations." Chuck had thought about it, especially after he had met the kid he had with Sam in some other universe. "I probably wouldn't have been much help."

"Considering that the entire venture was doomed from the start, I'm not certain that would have mattered."

"Right, sorry," Chuck said, looking up to give Castiel an apologetic look. "I missed you too, you know."

"I've apparently only been gone a week and a half."

Chuck gave a light shrug, not wanting to accidentally jolt his hand while he was patching Cass up. "I assumed you weren't ever coming back. You did say you expected to die during the apocalypse."

That had screwed with Chuck's head a lot.

"Apparently, I was killed before arriving here the first time." Castiel looked down at his chest. "This seems to be where I go."

"Maybe this is your home," Chuck said. He didn't think too much of being killed considering how many times it had happened to himself. "There. Done."

It wasn't exactly the most professional looking patch up job, but Chuck's perfectionism kept it from looking too sloppy.

Castiel looked down and nodded. "It's suitable. It should prevent me from accidentally banishing myself until the marks fade. Thank you."

"You're welcome," Chuck said with a small smile. "Let me know if you need anything else. I know you'll probably feel like crap about what happened regardless, but if you need a distraction I'll help you out."

By "help out" he mostly meant he'd provide alcohol.

Castiel approved of that sort of help. "Thank you. And should I be able to return the favor, you'll let me know?"

"Yeah, of course I will," Chuck said, nodding. "You want to drink some more?"

"I do, thank you. It seems to be the thing to do."
