Hannibal was experimenting. He'd brought a toaster from his room into the bar and was now trying to cook Hot Pockets all the way through. And who was testing these Hot Pockets out? Tino, of course. Hannibal gave him some cock and bull story about them being gourmet and a total girl attractor and Tino, being Tino, believed him.

Right now, Hannibal was on his fifth Hot Pocket and Tino was beginning to realize that everything about Hot Pockets was fake and gross.

"Not really feeling more academia, Kate," he said, shaking his head. "I'm lucky I got through high school. I'd like a break from having to sit in a classroom. It gets a little old after four years of this."

"Yeah, because this school's so very academic," she drawled. "But okay, maybe school's not your thing. I'm still sure there's something you could be doing."

"Yeah, I'm gonna be a bum," he repeated, shrugging. "Sit around, eat Cheetos and wonder where the good times of my youth went. I think it's a good plan."

"Yeah it's a shitty plan," Kate said. "Can't that wait until you're like... I don't know, twentyfive or something? I mean, wait until your beauty starts to fade, at least.

"You're such a ray of sunshine," Hannibal said, rolling his eyes. "Let's stop talking about me. What's up with you?"

"Takes one to know one, babe," Kate remarked, before shrugging. "Not much. Lazy week. Characterized by apologizing to teachers."

"Apologizing to teachers?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "For what? Sleeping with their respective spouses?"

"I'm not sure any of them have spouses," she said, making a face at him. "I was a cat again, last week."

Yeah, Hannibal was laughing. He didn't even try to hide it. "Oh, that's just purr-fect!"

"Bobby take care of you?"

Kate just rolled her eyes. You got used to that reaction after a while.

"No," she said. "Bod did, actually."

"Oh, that's right, I keep forgetting you're all attached now," he teased, smirking. "He do a good job?"

"He did good," she said, going for idle but ending up smiling despite herself. "Pretty awesome, actually."

"Oh my god, you're so smitten," Hannibal said, laughing. "You're smitten as hell, Kate. How cute is that?"

"Am not," Kate replied, reaching to attempt smacking him. "Shut up."

Hannibal dodged out of the way of that smack and continued laughing. "You are. You're smitten as all get out. You loooooooooooooove him."

"Okay, now you seriously need to shut up."

Preferably before she'd cross over from annoyed-yet-amused to having a panic attack. Some words were more powerful than others.

"You are smitten," he said, going back to that word. "You started grinning like a fool when you thought about how he took care of you. Smitten like a kitten. Hey, that fits!"

"I will hurt you," she informed him, almost calmly. "So what if I am?"

"So nothing," Hannibal said, amused. "Being smitten's not a bad thing. I just think it's cute. Cynical Kate is smitten with a boy. It's cute."

"You make it sound like it has never happened before," she complained, though it was a weak argument.

"It's the first time I've seen you like this," Hannibal said, leaning on the bar and smiling at her. "It's not a bad thing, Kate. Feels good, doesn't it?"

"You are way too interested in this."

Oh like he expected to get a straight answer to that question? No, ungraceful dodging it was.

"And you're dodging," he said, smirking. "Of course I'm interested. It's nice to see you acting like a dork about this."

"I am not acting like a dork." Yes she was. "Come on. I just... happen to kind of like a guy. That's all."

"This is not the behavior of someone who kind of likes a guy," Hannibal snorted. "You're acting like a dork. Just own it, Kate."
