The Beach, Monday Morning
It was not, perhaps, the most adult thing that she could be doing, all things considered.
But Hinata had been feeling a bit stir-crazy after keeping a low profile for a bit and when the day had dawned bright and clear and Fandom Weirdness free as far as a glance out the window could tell, she had scooped up Yei (who hadn't put up much of a protest, all things considered) and headed out.
Which brought her to the beach and found Hinata sitting in the sand, well above the water line, with her ankles crossed as she blew bubbles into the air.
And laughed softly as Yei tried to play with them only to be quite put-out that they broke on contact.
[This post was totally written around the icon, yes. Open as a beach is, la!]

In fact, he was in far less of a hurry when he noticed--
"Bubbles!" And then he noticed... "Yei!" And, of course, "Hi, Hinata!"
A little excitable, that Zack.

Hinata laughed, glancing up at him while Yei batted at a few bubbles. "Sh-Shall I take that to mean I should know where I stand?"
Somewhere below bubbles. And her kitten.

"Not at all," he replied. "That just means that I'm easily distracted by floating things that pop, and the little furry things that pop them."
Which was totally different from Zack sticking people he knew at the bottom of his list of priorities. Ah, ADHD. Such a convenient excuse!

And Mommy wasn't blowing bubbles!
That meant that Yei had to wriggle her way over to inspect those boots. RIGHT AWAY.
"I'll take that explanation," she said, smiling. "As it's far more of a comforting one to believe."

"That's pretty much the order I notice things in," Zack promised. "I had Tether bouncing up to say hi yesterday before I even realized that Cable was there, too."
Which was possibly not helping your case, Zack. Or maybe it was, if you were trying to plead 'selectively blind to anything that wasn't prone to licking your face.'

Hinata's lips twitched. "I suppose that the animals are cuter."

And now it was time for high conversation with Zack Fair.

"I would think he'd get lost easily if he wasn't kept in his ball," she admitted, idly blowing a few more bubbles.
Very high conversation!

Yes, he did this frequently.
"He loves those!"
Mr. Winkles wished every moment of the day that he could take those notebooks and shove them down Zack's throat.

"Sometimes," he admitted. "But that's just what gerbils do, I guess."
That, and Mr. Winkles was a huge fan of property damage.
no subject
"Have you had him for long?"
no subject
To help him get his head around the really, really crappy things that had gone on in that other Fandom, back when.
no subject
If you were, like, Hinata.

"I'm glad to have him," Zack replied. "I mean, he's small, but he's good company sometimes. And he doesn't ask questions."
Mr. Winkles would someday learn humanity's secret to speech. And then, instead of idle chit-chat, he would resort to interrogation sessions under a hot lamp in a dark room.

"Sometimes, it's nice to be able to be bugged by stuff and still keep company without having to justify it. Pets are good for that sort of thing. And even if your reasons for being upset are kind of stupid, they won't judge you for it. I don't know if it's important, but it is nice."
