The Beach, Monday Morning

It was not, perhaps, the most adult thing that she could be doing, all things considered.

But Hinata had been feeling a bit stir-crazy after keeping a low profile for a bit and when the day had dawned bright and clear and Fandom Weirdness free as far as a glance out the window could tell, she had scooped up Yei (who hadn't put up much of a protest, all things considered) and headed out.

Which brought her to the beach and found Hinata sitting in the sand, well above the water line, with her ankles crossed as she blew bubbles into the air.

And laughed softly as Yei tried to play with them only to be quite put-out that they broke on contact.

[This post was totally written around the icon, yes. Open as a beach is, la!]

Zack understood what she was saying, though. Pets were a responsibility. You don't just pass a responsibility off on someone just because it had an adorable twitchy little nose and beady little eyes. You had to know that they could handle it, first.

"I'm glad to have him," Zack replied. "I mean, he's small, but he's good company sometimes. And he doesn't ask questions."

Mr. Winkles would someday learn humanity's secret to speech. And then, instead of idle chit-chat, he would resort to interrogation sessions under a hot lamp in a dark room.

Zack shrugged and gave a soft little smile somewhere in the general direction of his toes.

"Sometimes, it's nice to be able to be bugged by stuff and still keep company without having to justify it. Pets are good for that sort of thing. And even if your reasons for being upset are kind of stupid, they won't judge you for it. I don't know if it's important, but it is nice."
