Mystery Sign Theatre, Thursday Evening
It certainly wasn't a date, no, but Jono and Ariel had set a date, in order to go to the cinema after Glee Club in order to catch whatever happened to be playing at the time. Really, rather than thinking of it as a date or anything like it, Jono preferred to think of it as a prize. A prize for not feeling a jot more than a whit better in the face of realizing that he was a horrible onion murderer once it was pointed out that at least he'd stayed a male on Sunday.
... It didn't actually make full and complete sense to Jonothon, either.
NOW PLAYING:
Hey Jude
//I think you'll like this one, luv,// Jono noted as they stepped into the line. //Plenty of music, supposed to be quite artistic.//
And it helped that he was a bit of a Beatles fan.
[Tacked up for Ariel for suuuuper sloooowplay, but open for anyone else who might be at the MST3k, too.]

Some tropical American city, no doubt. He didn't bother to know most of his American geography if he could help it, generally.
//Really, I'd probably take th'shark as well.// A pause. //Though I've never really had to deal with one before. Not many sharks in London.//
Shock.

Which caused her to pause for a moment and consider.
"There aren't any of those in this movie, are there?"
no subject
Which was the important part here, so far as Jonothon could tell.

"Good music?" she asked, as if there was ever such a thing as bad music.

Finally, they reached the ticket booth, and Jono went rummaging through his jacket pocket for his wallet. Yes, the evening out was his prize for... something or other, he wasn't quite certain what. But that didn't mean he wasn't going to attempt to pay his way in regardless.
And hers, as well.

Jono was missing the point. Probably on purpose.

... Even while the boys were carrying around the Statue of Liberty and all.

//I wouldn't be opposed to that,// Jono decided, leading the way toward the snack line. The one that wouldn't do him any good, except as a provider of confetti. //Aside from work and clubs and school, I really don't get out all that much.//

"Work and clubs and school can still take up a lot of time," she offered. "Plus, you've got the band, too!"

He had a horrible habit of assuming that anybody with an instrument naturally knew how to play it like a professional, with little practise time, apparently. Which was funny, considering he shared a room with George and knew first-hand how very not-the-case that was.

Oh, Jono. You didn't want to know.

For obvious reasons.
//That well, mm?//

... Wow, Ariel liked junk food.
//Are you planning on stuffing all of that into yer gob?//

Of course, Jono was good at playing the guitar. But really, he figured the point still stood. Right? Right!

Though, granted, it did tend to lack that 'warming up with cocoa by the fireplace' charm when he had it out around here.

//Well, I enjoy playing well enough. I suppose people can just tell when they hear me play.//
no subject
"That, and you're good. Really good. I can say that now, because I've had someone showing me all sorts of new things about music."
no subject
Hey, Jono had to check, sometimes.
no subject
"You know what I mean. Of course I was certain before; I've just had it confirmed, how's that?"
no subject
//I suppose I can live with that,// he replied. //I guess you'd have no basis for comparison, really, would you?//

If another aspiring rock guitarist emerged on the island, then Jono would have to fight to defend his place of prestige, perhaps. But otherwise? Nope. Totally safe.
//You must've gotten yer voice from her, then.//

She said this all with a sort of giggle, though, almost as if she was rolling her eyes at the comments, in a way that meant she wasn't one to let it go to her head all the same. She was glad for her voice, of course. How could she not be, loving music as she did? But she hardly wanted to be just a voice. And liked to think that this summer showed that she wasn't.

//It figures,// he mused. //I'm always th'last one to find out about these things.//
no subject
She supposed she'd definitely have to count Christian.
"Definitely not last, though."
