Homecoming Carnival Post II | Park | Friday | October 22

The Homecoming Carnival was in full swing and decorated according to the theme: blues and greens of all sorts, and little fish decorations everywhere.

But that wasn't the important part, oh no.

The important part was how much fun could be had at all of the booths! Step up, step up! Take your chances!

Really, who would want to miss this?

"I thought you were too nice for that."

That was a lie and Percy knew it was an obvious one.

"You think I'm the nice one?" Okay, that was kind of sweet and meant Nico would come forward to offer a bit of pink fluff for Percy.

Percy was a little suspicious about this show of generosity but he did reach to take some of that pink fluff. "You're nicer than most demigods I know. You shriek less than Grover."

"Gee, thanks. Remind me to list you as a reference if I ever need one." Because he would ever get a job.

"Hey, that's a compliment!" Percy insisted, half smiling. "Grover's my best friend and he'd get all sulky if he knew I said that."

"I'm a friend to Cloven Elders, but that doesn't mean I wanna be remembered for a shriek." Percy was so getting a closeup pie toss.

"You're not gonna be remembered for a shriek," Percy assured him, shaking his head. "You'll be remembered for McDonalds, I think. Happy Meals and french fries."

"Hey now, if you were dead, what would be better: a Happy Meal and Coke or some stupid bowl of pig's blood?"

Percy made a face at the mention of pig's blood which probably answered Nico's question. "You know, whenever I die, I'm leaving Mrs. O'Leary to you."

Nico stared at Percy for a moment, wondering if he had any idea what the future had in store for him. "That's really reassuring. She'd find me anyway. Strong scent."

Percy had noooooooo idea hence the random bit of sentimentality. "Yeah, I figured she would but, you know, I'd want it to be official. No one else would really care about her like you."

"You just don't want me to shove a pie in your face," Nico replied with a smirk.

"Well yeah but that doesn't mean I'm not telling you the truth," Percy said, trying to stave off that pie for a little longer.

Nico picked up a pie with his free hand. "It's good to hear the truth. Just like I'm glad they have blueberry."

Oh gods, not blueberry. That was gonna leave him such a mess.

"That's gonna be such a waste of a good pie," Percy tried, wincing. "Wouldn't you rather eat it?"

Nico liked the messy aspect and turned the pie in his hand, closing one eye to check his line of sight. "Nah, I think it'll go good with your eyes."

"You are not the nice demigod," Percy said and glared. "I take it all back. So not nice."

"Duh, son of Hades!" And then Nico threw the pie right for Percy's face.

And the pie struck its target, splattering blueberry filling and crust all over his face and shoulders. Percy tried to glare or sulk or something but when your face was liberally covered in pie, you just looked stupid.

"Thank you so much, Nico," he said sarcastically, trying to wipe the pie from his eyes at least.
