Luau on the Beach | Monday | January 17

Alex had woken up to some rambling text message from Dean Stinson about seizing the day and taking advantage of the warm weather to set up something for everyone down on the beach. When he'd become the dean's lackey, he didn't know but he actually got to it. It wasn't his money he was spending, after all. The first thing he'd done was plaster signs announcing the luau all over the dorms and town to let people know it was happening.

So, after a few quick hours of setup, the beach was now looking like a real luau was taking place. Tiki torches led the way to the beach, doing their best to provide lighting when the sun fell and to keep bugs away. Several tiki bars were laid out across an area of the beach, serving up drinks (yes, there was alcohol since adults were invited) and even conversation to those that might want it.

Palm trees with string lights had also been set up to make the luau more authentic. And, of course, there were several tables containing all sorts of moddable food for the partygoers to enjoy.

The weather was amazing and the luau was on!

Leia was definitely taking advantage of the warmer temperatures to stretch out on the beach and enjoy the sun. Her bikini wasn't gold metal, but it was gold and probably far too skimpy for her father's approval.

Hinata had her summer weight jacket on over her bathing suit--it was a... thing... of hers--and was wandering, up to her ankles in the water, and letting the sun soothe her worries.

It was too beautiful a day, truly, to be focused on anything but this unexpected respite.

Ino was mostly here because, well, upon reaching the dorms after work she'd been presented with the following argument from Zack:

Beach + Sun + Zack making puppy faces + lounging in the sun = a good time.

It was mostly, she thought, laying back in her bikini and just soaking up the warmth, the puppy face that had convinced her to go. She was weak to it.

She might even admit that it was a good idea, later.

Jeremy was loving this. He couldn't understand how this kind of a sunny day could be happening, but he'd just decided to roll with it. The weather was weird, sure, but this was a party and parties were his life, so he was good.

Because it was supposed to be the middle of winter and he was a pasty rich boy, he hadn't gone for the swimming trunks option, but he'd picked the lightest clothes he'd brought with him, and had rolled up his sleeves and his pantlegs to accomodate for the warmth. And he was smiling as he wandered around with a drink in hand, occasionally wading kneedeep into the water just because he could.

Luke freaking loved today. Winter was so not his thing; he loved being out in the sun and having the minimal amount of clothes required on. He didn't necessarily want to go out into the water, but he was wandering around in just a pair of swim shorts and sandals. He was happy to show off the tattoos on his ankles for the first time and the fact that all the training he had been doing lately had been paying off, save for the random bruise or two where Nico managed to hit him hard.

He grabbed a drink and laid out in the sand, determined to stay in the sun for as long as possible. He just hoped he wouldn't get weird sunglasses tan.

Jessica had to wait until nightfall to go to the luau, of course, but she was still bound and determined to wear a bikini when she did show up even if the sun was gone. She'd never been allowed to wear something like that before, and now nothing was holding her back from showing off.

Considering he'd thrown this thing together, Alex was damn sure going to be there and he was going to ditch his shirt as soon as it got hot enough. So, basic black trunks, cold drink in hand and sunglasses, that's what he was sporting and he kind of loved it.

Hopefully he'd get enough sun today to last throughout the rest of the winter in case this weather didn't last.

Yes, Jaina was here. She was enjoying this weather while she could, and it was something to keep her busy. As far as she was concerned, there was no bad here. She had her bathing suit on under shorts and a tank top, but highly suspected no one was going to see it, and she got herself a drink before finding a good spot to hang out.

A party down at the beach meant Percy had to go. It was imperative. Being close to the water and letting the sun beat down on his shoulders and face was the perfect start to the week.

He was still wearing a light t-shirt (which meant some people would get the first glimpse of the tattoo on his forearm) and shorts since he was pale and scrawny but it worked for him. He was comfortable and he had a cold drink and there was water.

Juliet had spent most of the day on the beach anyhow, so when nightfall came it only made sense to go home, change into a cuter bikini and sarong, and go back to the beach. She sipped something fruity as she splashed her feet through the waves.

Bod wasn't usually a huge fan of parties but he found himself wanting to be social and outside today especially considering the weather. He'd shed his shirt after arriving, hoping to get some sun on his pale shoulders and picked up a drink.

With that done, he wandered around the beach, digging his toes into the warm sand and letting the sun warm his face.

Nathan was a lanky, pale, Irish boy which meant that he shouldn't be so eager to show himself off. Nathan was also narcissistic and thought he looked fucking beautiful so he hadn't wasted anytime in getting out of his shirt (everyone was just lucky he kept his jeans on).

He used his sunglasses to hold his mop of curly hair back and even tucked a cigarette behind his ear for easy access. Rubbing his hands together, he went to see if he could either finagle some alcohol or cop a feel somewhere.

A warm day, beach, and no classes to hold her back meant Caroline was planning to enjoy herself to the fullest and wear the least amount of clothes possible in the process. Yay bikini!

Big old lapis lazuli ring stuck securely on her forefinger and Caroline had nothing to worry about--other than all the girls with the same idea as her. Whatever, she was going to tan in January and there were plenty of pretty boys to watch wander around shirtless.

"Can you believe this freaking weather?!?!" Shelley practically shouted as she ran out onto the beach, giddy. She spun around in circles, loving the feel of the sun on her exposed skin, of which there was a lot.

She tossed down her beach towel and looked around. She had a decision to make: frolic in the surf, long walk on the beach, or spread out the towel and find someone to help her with some suntan lotion?

This was kind of nice. Actually, it was the nicest weather Dolf had had in a very long time. It was nice enough that the sight of the party managed to tempt him out in his t-shirt and a pair of shorts.

... only to head for the shade to make sure he didn't burn his pasty Dutch skin. Sigh.

All he needed was Sargeant Angua in a bizarre swimsuit by his side, and they'd be a target for paparazzi...

Jason wasn't much of a beach fan, but he sure as hell wasn't going to stay inside on a day like today. So, he'd put on a bathing suit and headed for the sand. He didn't have a drink yet, but there would be time for that later.

For her part, Elphaba wasn't worried about sunburn. In fact, in a move that made her feel daring and more than a little self conscious, she was actually in her (extremely modest) one-piece bathing suit and lying just at the edge of the shore where the waved lapped up against her. It was, in fact, quite relaxing.

She sing-songed to herself as the waves lapped. "I'm melting, I'm melting..."

It was kind of disgusting that the weather had the guts to be this warm in January. So Jake was alternating between staying in the water (which wasn't nearly as warm) and getting something to drink and eat.

Kate had missed this kind of weather. And the beach, and the warm water. She wasn't staying put much, not when she could walk around barefoot, occasionally going into the water, then coming out again just to get sand sticking to the bottoms of her feet.

She felt confortable enough with showing a lot of skin, now that her bruises had faded. There were still some slightly yellowish patches, but those blended into her pale skin, and she was confident they wouldn't get much attention. There was a tattoo on her hip, if people wanted to stare at the details of her skin. And they should've just stared anyway: she looked fucking fabulous, thank you, in her deep blue bikini.

And her big black sunglasses were just the perfect thing to hide behind as she weaved her way through the crowd.

Sure, she didn't make it down until after class, but Stephanie had always been a lemonade-out-of-lemons kind of girl, and why look a gift weather horse in the mouth? Question the environmental implications of the situation, sure. But she could do that while lounging on a towel in the sunshine with a drink in her hand, right?

Yes, she was wearing a bathing suit. No, it did not have a bat insignia on it, thank you very much.

Oh thank the gods, it was finally a nice day out. Leo had missed the sun. Just because he and his siblings felt at home in forges didn't mean he couldn't appreciate a nice day when he got one.

He was a little hesitant about taking his shirt off at first, but after seeing some of the paler guys shirtless and proud he decided, what the hell, he'd go for it. Leo sat down in the sand with a drink and enjoyed the sun.

Rosalind was most definitely not in a bathing suit. What she would do for her little sister she had little inclination to do in front of a great deal of the island.

Finding herself along a rockier part of the beach, Rosalind perched on a large rock, and contented herself with watching the water.

Depending on the company, should any wish to find her, she might even be pleasant. The water was a calming influence.
