Devil's Nest [Friday night, after sunset]

Eric Northman didn't get nervous over club openings--he saved his nerves for important things like potentially meeting the sun, getting staked or talking with Nan Flanagan--but he was a tad...apprehensive. It would be embarrassing to throw a party and not have anyone show up.

Tiny, the enormous bouncer, was at the door waiting to check IDs, the newly hired DJ was in the booth, the lights were dimmed, the bar was staffed, the overpriced appetizers were being prepped...it was time to get started.

Eric slouched into his leather booth in the VIP section, put a vaguely bored expression on his face and waved his hand at Tiny to open the doors.

"Sounds like a winner." Because being in control of all her limbs meant she was getting a great deal there.

"Only thing to miss out on is maybe getting a Thriller show out of them." Which she'd never seen out of the zombies at Caritas, but maybe that was just because they didn't have a dancefloor. You never knew.

"I don't know if I'd ever get the smell out of the upholstery," Eric replied, frowning thoughtfully.

Effy's nose wrinkled at the memory of that particular smell, and would have to agree it might not be worth it.

"A few," Eric said. "This isn't my first time running a club. But I am also open to suggestions from people who have been on the island longer than I have."

"I'll think on it for you," she promised, idly turning her glass in her hands.

"... Why here?" she had to ask after a moment. Who picked a random backwater for their nightclub? It was an unusual choice.

"It's good to diversify," Eric said. "Many of my assets are currently tied up in Louisiana, but an acquaintance of mine attends school here and I found the island intriguing when I visited her."

"Intriguing," Effy repeated, exhaling an amused breath. "Way to downplay." Fucking insane, was her preferred description.

"Unless you're used to weirder, I suppose." Having never been to Louisiana, she couldn't really judge.
