Groovy Tunes, Monday
There were a lot of 'lasts' going on this week. His last shift and the library was yesterday, and today was Jono's last shift at the Groovy Tunes. The musical flavour of the day was Pearl Jam, of course, which probably shouldn't surprise anyone.
And he was spending his time... packing up the things that he'd left in the shop since he'd gotten the job.
He was not making sad faces at things and taking breaks here and there to hug his cat. Shut up.
[OCD-freeeeeeeeee. Naturally.]

This sort of thing wasn't supposed to be so difficult. He was always so good at putting everything down and moving on, before. //Hey, Sunshine.//

This week was going to be unbearable. Friends leaving, Jono leaving, and now Triela....
She was quiet for a long moment before asking, "Do you know Triela?"

//We've met once or twice, I suppose, but I was never particularly close to her,// he noted, leaning back just enough to be able to look her in the eye. //Nice enough gel. Little... awkward, I think, with people.//
no subject
No, she wasn't letting go of him yet.
no subject
Very vague.
But he was pulling her closer. In the wake of news like that, he wasn't about to let go, either.
no subject
Though she was still tempted to try.
no subject
This was...
//Bloody hell,// he murmured. //Is there... anything I can do?//
[Sorry! Fell asleep at the keyboard, oozed to bed shortly after!]

She'd had her failure to heal Jono completely on her mind, too. If she'd just been a little stronger, then maybe.... But if it was ever going to kill him, she would try again, and she wasn't going to let anyone stop her.
"She is in the clinic now," she said. "She collapsed last night at a party she was having. Karla and I healed her until I lost consciousness, and Dana says she is stable now, but I am uncertain how long that will last. I think perhaps the only option we have left is for me to attempt to heal her fully, but Karla and Dana do not wish to allow me to try."

More awkwardness, creeping in around the edges. Jono knew what healing did to Raven. He'd seen the flames attempting to rise from her chest when she'd restored his face, and could understand fully why they would tell her not to push herself to heal Triela.
He also knew what helplessness felt like. The awkwardness was going to have to do battle with his sympathy and his desire to do anything in his power to be of assistance, if it wanted to render him completely at a loss. It had a long way to go, yet.
//I can't lose you again, Raven.//
And underneath the awkwardness and the sympathy, selfishness. He'd lost Raven once. He'd lost Didi forever. He couldn't do it again. Not for anyone.

"Dana has threatened me with needles and drugs to make me sleep if I should even try," she assured him. "I will wait to see what she may do for Triela with her medicines at the clinic." She sounded dubious about that, however.
"And you will never lose me, I promise," she said. Never.

Unless you were Jean.
Which none of them were.

She unwound one arm to brush her hand across her eyes, then snuggled back against Jono. "Mead is alcoholic," she said, trying to lighten the mood just a little bit. She really should stick to just drinking water in the future.
no subject
She'd been drinking it?
And he'd missed that?
//Been enjoying a bit of th'Viking hospitality, have you?//
no subject
She'd liked it though, so maybe she could drink it again, just so long as she and anyone around her knew what to expect.
no subject
Surprised, yes. But he wouldn't change it for the world. She was such an amusing drunk...
no subject
Raven was a very very happy drunk, at least?
no subject
Especially when she was professing her deep and profound emotions to the world at large.
no subject
Unless she was just with Jono. Then it could be fun.

He was a fan of the peppermint.
//I might have to take you on a crash-course around Boston, sometime. No better way to learn than in th'company of somebody who knows when you've reached yer limit.//

It had been a while, granted. But it was like riding a bicycle, right?
no subject
Instant hangover cure, just add Raven.

And underage, too. Jonothon had actually been more of a rebel before he took to wearing black leather.
no subject
Though the drinks she might like were far more girly than the chewy beers.
no subject
//Would you?//
Really, really, really okay.
no subject
"You know I enjoy sharing things with you."
no subject
Plans! He still liked that word.
no subject
"But then what will we do the following week?" she added teasingly.

Handcuffs were already crossed off.
