Our Lady Of Fandom - Saturday Evening

Seifer had spent that morning getting the church in order, and this evening he was there again. Right there, in the front, kneeling down and praying with his rosary in hand. He was praying that the Lord would forgive him for the lust and depravity that this town brought into his mind. It was just so hard to resist sometimes, and he needs his God's love and guidance to do so.

Not that his focus on his own troubles would stop him from helping anyone who came through the doors. He was there to serve. Whether it be to calm a troubled soul, ease a hurting heart, or perform a marriage ceremony or two.

It seemed Fandom was rather obsessed with marriages.

"Either my husband is a horrible cheating liar--" Scully inhaled dramatically. "Or I'm having a Virgin Birth. Without being a Virgin. Maybe just an Immaculate Conception? I am a doctor."

Seifer was rather confused, which was shockingly a first today. "Could you explain this again. Only, with a bit more detail."

Scully sniffled, collapsing in a pew, looking woeful. "I'm pregnant. But Bruce says that he never felt like telling me before now that he can't have children. There was some accident, and I checked the medical records, and-- but I've been faithful! But he says it isn't his or his problem! And I keep wanting to eat green things and I can't think of another explanation! Unless it's the Second Coming and we're kind of late for that!"

Seifer blinked and sighed. He'd just performed a so not legal wedding ceremony just a short time ago that involved Bruce and his other-no-longer-possibly-ex-wife. Now another wife was here...

The priest may have stared off into the distance during that inner monologue, but he shook his head and turned back to the poor, distraught woman. "You're a doctor, my dear. I'm sure that there is some test you can do to prove to Bruce that this is his child."

"But what if it isn't?" Scully paused, calculating. "Unless... Father, are you suggesting I suborn my medical knowledge for an illicit purpose? Wouldn't that be wrong?"

But the baby deserved a father! Even a jerk like Bruce!

"I'm saying, my dear, that God and I think you should do what is best for this child." He paused, and then nodded. "And if that means using for knowledge for such a thing, well, it is in the best interest of the baby."

It's not like God paid child support.

Scully clutched her cross and sniffed, but nodded, determined and brave. "Thank you, Father. You've been a great comfort. I'm sure Bruce will grow to love him. Her. Whichever." She sighed heavily. "I just hope it won't have some destiny due to its conception. Should I come back to talk to you about that if the baby starts walking on the bath water or something?"

Seifer blinked, actually blinked. This young woman was just filling his shock quota for the day.
