Our Lady Of Fandom - Saturday Evening

Seifer had spent that morning getting the church in order, and this evening he was there again. Right there, in the front, kneeling down and praying with his rosary in hand. He was praying that the Lord would forgive him for the lust and depravity that this town brought into his mind. It was just so hard to resist sometimes, and he needs his God's love and guidance to do so.

Not that his focus on his own troubles would stop him from helping anyone who came through the doors. He was there to serve. Whether it be to calm a troubled soul, ease a hurting heart, or perform a marriage ceremony or two.

It seemed Fandom was rather obsessed with marriages.

"I am not trying to trick you into anything," Seifer said with a very dramatic sigh. He sat down on a pew and dropped his head into his hands.

"I cannot trick you into something you are incapable of feeling."

Squall sat down next to him and stared at the floor in silence. Eventually, he spoke, in no more than a whisper. "You know I have difficulty with the 'L' word," he told Seifer. "Ever since the... tragic incident with Ellone."

When she'd canceled his Showtime subscription.

It had been a tragedy. Showtime was one of the few decent movie channels left.

"You have difficulty with emotion, Squall. If it doesn't revolve around you, you want nothing to do with it."

"Is it really so wrong to want to be the center of the universe?" Squall asked, moving closer. "The center of YOUR universe?"

"It is when you forget that I exist in that universe as well, Squall." Seifer looked away, his eyes shiny with unshed tears. "Or when you had to be the center of someone else's universe as well."

Rinoa. It always came down to her, and them, and all the jealousy and rage and sorrow between them. Neither Seifer nor Rinoa really truly wanted him to be happy, or else they'd understand.

Squall reached a hand up towards Seifer's cheek. "You're being selfish again," he chided.

"I'm being selfish?" The tears did fall now, trailing like silent tears down Seifer's cheek, falling onto Squall's fingers. "You want everything for yourself, for us to love you and no one else. Not even ourselves."

And what was so wrong with that?

"Shhhhhhh," Squall hushed softly, leaning in to kiss the tears away. "Let's not have this fight again. Not here, not now."

Oh, nothing if you were a shiny, emo vampire name named redacted to protect copyright issues.

Seifer leaned into the kisses and smiled sadly. "Let's not. I just, want to be close to someone again. To have someone hold me again."

And he would totally use this to fuel more distance between Squall and Rinoa.

"I'm here, baby," Squall told him. "I'll hold you for ever and ever, and then some." He slid off his jacket while kissing Seifer, and reached to start taking off the priestly vestments.

Seifer's own robe hit the floor as the camera tastefully shifted away to focus on the elaborate cross above the pulpit.
