The Park, Monday Evening

Portals elsewhere might break, send you to the wrong planet, or leave you hanging; this one was forever faithful to its own schedule.

Sadly, for those denizens of the island who might have grown attached to their children, that meant it was time to say goodbye. The portal popped up blazing purple in the center of the park, calling to those it had taken here just a few days ago.

Time to go, time to go home, children.

[[ for your AU kidlet goodbyes! Sniff. ]]

Those four words would keep her safe through nightmares. They would give her the strength to regain the throne he should have inherited. She would hear them ringing in her ears when she died.

She could not speak, for fear of it being an incoherent sob. When she could, she murmured, "I love you, Rhaego. Until the sun rises in the west, and sets in the east."

She reached out, pulling him tight against her in an embrace. "Me nem nesa."

It is known.

In a few long strides, he was gone.
