The Park, Monday Evening

Portals elsewhere might break, send you to the wrong planet, or leave you hanging; this one was forever faithful to its own schedule.

Sadly, for those denizens of the island who might have grown attached to their children, that meant it was time to say goodbye. The portal popped up blazing purple in the center of the park, calling to those it had taken here just a few days ago.

Time to go, time to go home, children.

"Ow, jerk!" Luke reached over to punch Percy on the arm. "I already got kicked yesterday!"

Anna was standing off to the side rolling her eyes in a very Annabeth like way.

Aritaseus laughed and looked smug. "Toughen up, Dad," he said, smirking. "Maybe you should have the girl's name and not me."

"And you were so sweet for a few minutes there yesterday," Luke said, shaking his head. "Now you're back to being Percy's little clone."

"Yeah, he does that sometimes. Probably to lure you into a false sense of security," Anna shared. She nodded her head towards the portal. "We should get going."

"Yeah," Aritaseus said and actually did give Percy and Luke quick hugs. Nothing too girly, though.

"Bye, Dads. See you on the other side. Hope you're ready for me," Aritaseus said as he started towards the portal.

"Most terrifying last words ever," Anna said. She gave the two of them hugs (taking her time because she obviously didn't mind being girly) and took some backwards steps toward the portal. "I still think you're both stupid, by the way."

"And you're bossy," Percy said but, in a rare show that he could listen sometimes and maybe he didn't want to be stupid, he did reach over and take Luke's hand. He didn't look at the other boy or make a big deal about it but he did it.

And he held tight.

Luke smiled a little, but didn't look over at Percy or anything like that. Didn't want to miss the kids going into the portal and hope they got back all right. Demigods didn't have the best luck so the worry was justified.

"You okay?" Luke asked Percy once the kids were out of sight.

"Well, my shins hurt but..." He nodded. "Yeah, I'm good. Wanna go get some food?"

Luke nodded. "Yeah, sure, I could eat."

He didn't much feel like being alone right now anyway.

With a nod and a last look at the portal, Percy gave Luke's hand a tug and started them towards town. He didn't really wanna be alone either.
