Kitty's good mood from the weekend had lasted all the way through to today. (Shut up.)

And then she came in to work and got her very first dose of Tino's saga with the barista. Besides hoping that wasn't what she looked like (it wasn't), this saga seemed to be an epic one, in the way that it didn't end and she couldn't escape having to hear about it short of leaving early or firing him or something.

Come in, people. For the love of god, give her something else to do.

"Plus, most people not Warren probably wouldn't want themselves launched through the air," she said. "Uh, and let's maybe not destroy property this time?"

Every once in a while she still found a paint smudge somewhere.

"...That is very restrictive criteria."

No, Topher, it really wasn't.

"We managed to successfully not destroy stuff every time until paintball," she reminded him. "Let's go back to our roots a little."

Siiigh.

"Board games?" Kind of boring compared to a game where you could shoot people in the face with pressurized paint, but there was potential there. "We could probably borrow the community center for a night."

"That could work. Just maybe not like Monopoly or something if we don't want to be there for two days," she said. "Actually that game could end in property damage, too..."

You try playing Monopoly past the time when everyone got bored with it with a bunch of mutants.

"...Fake property, right?" Like, in the game?

Kitty paused just a second too long. "Sure, let's go with that."

Topher eyed her. "I was not aware that game could get intense."

Of course, before he'd come here he hadn't actually had all that many opportunities to play board games with people, so it was possible his expectations were skewed.

"There's a point where it goes on just a little too long and everyone starts getting impatient and bored but not everyone wants to stop playing yet." Huh. "I don't think I've ever seen a Monopoly game that didn't end badly... Or with a winner."

"Lame," he decided. Because winning was everything. Always. "Any other ideas?"

"Well, maybe stay away from board game board games, since we don't know how many people will show up," she said. "So more like charades, or Pictionary, Apples to Apples..."

"The one with the describing things!" He was so savvy about social activities. Really. "I like that one."

"And we can play with a bunch of people or with four if that's all that shows up," she said, smiling. "When are we doing this?"

"Well, this Saturday's the picnic..." It was impressive he even knew that. "Weekend after that?"

"Right. That," she said, making a mental note to get that now hiring sign out. "That sounds good."

"Sweeeet." With that and a thumbs-up, he hopped off his barstool. "I will... see you then."

...Apparently Kitty got to keep the pictures. Lucky her.
