You could ask why Tiny was wearing the moose antlers tonight, but you might want to be careful who you asked.

Bo would tell you.

Tiny would... Look, do you really need anyone to spell out what would happen if you walked up to the guy in the sleeveless leather vest, looked his kneecap in the face, and asked why he was wearing a moose-antler hat?

Aside from Bo snickering; that one was a given. She was doing that anyway, though. She would just snicker louder if she got to watch Tiny drop-kick some suicidal idiot out the door.

After being kicked out of the welcome picnic for completely bullshit reasons that had nothing at all to do with the threatening of a teenager... Derek was at the Devil's Nest.

To investigate the bartender Jack had mentioned to him.

This apparently involved sitting down and not saying anything at all to her. Though, that might be blamed on her 'outfit' tonight as well.

Hey, Bo was (not that she knew it) karmically doomed to spend way too much time with loomy repressed wolf-dudes who said annoyingly little about anything actually important.

Actually, come to think of it, that last part tended to describe most men she knew.

All of which added up to Bo not being too unnerved by his silence, at least initially. "Hey, there. What can I get you?"

There there, Bo. There there.

"A water," he said. "Please."

"Meeting somebody?" she guessed as she went for a bottle of spring water. She was not getting an Evian vibe here.

Hey, he was a classy guy. A classy guy who lived in an abandoned house and occasionally turned furry and fangy.

As one does.

"No." For the love of god, elaborate on that, Derek. It's just weird. "I work here."

There we go. Kind of.

Hey, Bo was a classy girl who lived in an abandoned hardware store and occasionally turned glowy and sucky. Who was she to judge?

Except on the weird thing, because, um. "...Tonight? Because if this is Eric's way of firing me, I'm so putting garlic in his TruBlood."

"On Wednesdays," he replied, leaning forward to drink. Well, mostly to catch her scent more clearly, but still.

Derek looked at her out of the corner of his eye before going back to drink his water.

Of course it was. Also, if there was any chance at all he wouldn't die from sex, Kenzi would be tripping him to fall on top of Bo like *that*.

Undaunted by the silence, or the side-eyeing, Kenzi continued, "New student? New teacher? New townie? New villain of the week?"

"None of the above." Actually one was true, but he didn't need to say that.

"Just passing through, a lonely loner out to brood in a bar?" Kenzi still looked hopeful. "In this town? Did you get lost?"

"Sure." It was a nice, small town where a werewolf could just settle down and enjoy their lives.

"When did I get a throne and where's my tiara?" Bo asked, filling a glass with root beer, ice cream, and maraschino cherries because your face that's why, and sliding it across to Kenzi. "Did you steal my tiara?"

Kenzi beamed and started slurping her treat immediately, and no one else got one, neeeener! "It's just out being cleaned! Also, I bet we could find you an awesome throne to go with that lasso-thingy that Bitterwoman uses. You already have the boots." Which Kenzi would be trying on later, yissssss.

"I'll stick with my spinny vibro-chair." Which was in her office, which made Bo pout a bit when reminded of the lack of Zoe. "Unless the new Principal takes it away from me."

"What? Noooo! I got that-- I mean, you got that fair and square when the universe rebooted," Kenzi protested. "And I don't want another Principal if he's gonna do that to you? What has he got against workplace adaptations? Can we make this new one go away?"

"I dunno; I haven't met her... pretty sure it's a her... yet." Hitting the picnic on a work day was always an iffy proposition; if she was going to be shutting this place down with the sunrise, she was damn well going to get as much sleep as possible first.

Where the DJ might have been a leeeetle bit inebriated tonight, judging from how the songs were veering from Ice-T to Patty Loveless to Julio Iglesias with no particular rhyme, reason, or rhythm-change in the drum-machine that almost drowned the music out.

Where there might or might not be one of the few people on the island who wasn't afraid to ask Tiny about the hat.

Bo will just be over in the corner wearing tight pants in Zoe's honor, m'kay?
