Jake wasn't quite willing to admit it, but he was feeling more than a little homesick today. Hence the drink of choice being rum, tonight. And the band was playing a selection of Great Big Sea songs in between karaoke requests. That the lead singer (...of Great Big Sea, not the zombie band) happened to bear a striking resemblance to a certain undercover agent of his acquaintance hadn't really occured to him until now. Huh. Weird.

Don’t get the old man started

Jaina hadn't been back here much since getting back, and she hadn't seen Jake at all. So when boredom hit, she decided to head over.

"Hey there," she greeted him, finding a seat at the bar.

"Jaina!" Jake greeted her cheerfully, glad to have someone to distract him from what was totally and completely not at all anything he needed distraction from. "Whatta ya at?"

Annnd that'd be a glass of rum he was pouring and setting in front of her. No, she hadn't ordered it. Details.

"Hey," she smiled, and looked down at the glass. "Wow, that's some service."

"If it's not t'your liking I can get another, but," he shrugged. "It's a good night for rum." Every night was a good night for rum, if you asked Jake.

"Nah, I can deal with rum," she decided. She couldn't remember the last time she finished a drink anyway. "How've you been? I haven't seen you in a while."

"I feel like with two jobs I ought to say run ragged off my feet," Jake admitted. "But truth be told, even being in charge of the Troopers isn't all that strenuous. Unless someone forgets to brew the coffee in the mornings. And you're back to teaching, I hear?"

"Yeah. Combat, because someone had to." Really, someone did in this place. "I'm working over at the other bar, too, and yet still not run ragged off my feet, either." Sigh.

"I suppose complaining about it would be just asking for trouble," Jake made a face.

Jaina paused. "Would that be a bad thing?"

"If it's gonna result in my life being seriously in danger, I'd vote yes," Jake had to admit. "If we're talking just general mayhem, then I suppose I could probably handle that."

"It's Fandom, so... It'd probably be a risk of serious danger that we look back on fondly as general mayhem."

It was possible Jaina, doing the job she did, had strange views.
