While the sippy cups from yesterday were gone, today all that Kitty could find were shot glasses. This... might pose a problem.

The scent of something rotten had caught Allie's attention as she walked the streets of town. Following her nose led her to Caritas.

"Why?" she asked as she approached the bar, her eyes still focused on the zombie band. "Why do you keep rabids around?"

"Uh, the zombies?" Kitty checked. "They're the band. You must be new."

She only ever got zombie questions from the newbies.

"Two weeks tonight," Allie admitted. Her hand itched for her sword. The fear of a lifetime too ingrained to get over too easily. "A zombie band. This town is weird."

Said the vampire.

"You are completely right," Kitty said with a little smile. "The zombies are harmless. Well, they're not always great for the eardrums, but they don't hurt anyone."

"Lucky. Where I'm from they'd tear you apart for dinner." Sadly Allie knew that first hand. "Bad music is nothing."

"I'm Allie," she said as she took a seat at the bar. "And please tell me about the weird. If I'm going to be stuck here for a while, I'd better be prepared."

"Kitty. Would you like anything to drink while I'm educating you? You might need it," she advised.

Allie hesitated for a moment, not sure how welcome a vampire would be. One of the zombies chose that moment to warble something sort of off-key and Allie shrugged. If Kitty could handle rabids...zombies she corrected herself, then what was one well behaved vampire?

"Do you have that stuff they have at the Devil's Nest? The blood?" she asked, inwardly preparing herself for some sort of revulsion.

While Kitty had some reservations about vampires, there also wasn't anything Allie could do to her in Caritas, so! No reason to get all weird at a customer, at the very least.

"Yep," she said, getting a bottle of True Blood together and setting it on front of her. "So did you turn into a kid along with everyone else this weekend?" she checked.

The bottle was going to sit there for a few minutes because it was all about control. And for now, Allie was in control of the hunger, not the other way around.

"That's why there were so many kids around?" It didn't make sense. But then again, there were a lot of things that hadn't made sense since she came to the island. "I didn't. Which is probably a good thing. Did you?"

"No. But a lot of people I know did. And that's one of the weird things that happens. Every once in a while we'll have a weekend where most of the island gets tiny or turns into a pony or something. It always passes and things go back to normal on Monday, as far as I've seen."

"There's no way to protect yourself? Because I think I'd prefer to not be a pony." Sorry Pinkie Pie.

"Nope. It's not so bad, most of the time." Hmm. She tended to get the fun stuff, though. "But at least you have the rest of the island there to go through it with you, so the embarrassment factor goes way down."

"I'm not so sure about that. I don't know all that many people on the island," she admitted. "And the ones I do know, don't seem like that type that would be willing to bond over embarrassment." Well maybe Jack. But Eric? Yeah, not happening.

"Well, maybe not bond as much as tacitly agree to never discuss it again," Kitty amended.

"And just forget? That doesn't seem right." Oh Allie just wait till after your first weekend of weirdness.

"But then again we're talking about the potential of being ponies for the weekend. Which still doesn't make sense."

"Nothing much makes sense here," Kitty told her. "Once you go through it, you'll understand. It's almost like a rite of passage, even."

Allie picked up the bottle and took a sip. "I can't say I'm looking forward to it," she said dryly.

"No one does," Kitty told her, and paused. "Except the next time everyone turns four, it better affect me, too. I was adorable."

And she already had a hot chocolate date.

"I might like that," Allie admitted. "To be a kid here. Where I grew up, well, it wasn't a fun place." What with the vampires and all.

"Doesn't sound like it. No offense," she added quickly. "Where are you from?"

"None taken. Don't worry," she assured Kitty. "It was probably like this one. Well without the weirdness at least. But then people started getting sick, the rabids came, then vampires. Now it's mostly ruins except for a few cities where the vampires princes protect people in exchange for feeding off of them. It's a pretty desperate place."

"That... kind of sounds like the worst ever." Or close to it. She'd seen some things.

"Compared to here? Yeah." Allie'd had dreams of changing it once. Of course that was before she became a vampire.

"What about you? Where'd you come from? What was it like there?"

"Chicago, originally. Halfway across the country from here," she added, just in case. "From a place with superheroes and supervillains and everything. Kind of feels like half this town is from some version of it."

"I've been in Chicago, or at least our version of it." There'd been a distinct lack of superheroes, but Jackal probably would count as some sort of low level villian.

"People are from different versions of the same place? Doesn't that get confusing?"

"All the time. I know people who have no idea who I am, there's someone here who knows me in the future..." She paused. "I'm finding that most of this place amounts to 'Just smile and nod.'"

Allie tipped the bottle at Kitty in a salute. "That's quite possibly the most practical advice anyone's given me since I've been on the island."

Oh my god real people are being annoying this afternoon.
