Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty was spending her shift trying to take inventory of the glassware they still had, so she could reorder more to replace what she'd broken last week. It was rare that Fandom weirdness made her cough up money to fix something she'd done, but when it did, it wasn't happy. That might have been why the snowman kept showing up to try and shove mistletoe at her across the bar.

"For the last time, there's only one person I'm kissing," she said, and jerked a thumb towards Tino. "Try him."

The snowman paused, then moved a couple steps down the bar to try with Tino instead. If only everything was that easy.

"What's his deal?" Laurie asked, eyeing the snowman. Bubbly as Laurie was, he hadn't attempted her yet, but it might have just been a matter of time. "That trick never works, buddy."

"I think he's thinking if he's persistent enough, it'll work," Kitty said, watching the snowman. "I personally don't want my boyfriend to hear on radio that I was annoyed into making out with an apparently sentient block of snow."

"Your mouth could get stuck, too." Not that Laurie spoke from experience.

"You don't think he'd think it's funny?" Laurie asked, resting her chin in her hand. "I used to be able to throw that kind of stuff at my last boyfriend and Smith would just shake his head and call a helicopter or something. I mean, not making out with snowmen, but general...not normal-ness."

"He might," she said, "but I've embarrassed myself in front of him enough lately and would like to get through a week without doing something like getting my mouth stuck to a snowman. God, that sounds wrong."

And then she had to ask, "Helicopter?"

"I used to date a really rich guy," Laurie said with a grin. "It was awesome. His dad hated me. But that's like, totally fair. Clint embarrassed himself a couple weeks ago, though! I took pictures of that hair."

"I think you're like, supposed to, because he's your boyfriend even when he's tiny," Laurie noted. "As an objective viewer, though? It was not his best look."

"Don't get me wrong, I definitely prefer him now," Kitty said, getting a bottle and a glass for Laurie because she was totally that kind of bartender. "But whose best look was when they were sixteen?"

"So help me, if you don't leave me alone, I'm going to put you in a pot on the stove and see how long it takes for you to melt," Allie bitched as she made her way towards the bar and dropped onto a stool.

Sadly that didn't deter the snowman that had followed her in.

"How do I make it go away?"

"I sent mine to bother Tino," Kitty said, nodding to where a snowman was still shaking its mistletoe at him. "Or, I guess you could kiss it. I won't tell."

"Go play with your friend," she told the snowman. "Because kissing is not happening. Ever."

Fortunately for the snowman's sake he did toddle off down the bar to bother Tino. Relieved to not have mistletoe constantly being shaken at her, Allie turned back to Kitty.

"So if I were to tell you that I spent the weekend as a bat, would you think I was crazy?"

"Nope. I was once a lion cub," Kitty said, leaning on the bartop. "It happens."

"I don't know if I'm relieved or more disturbed that this is a thing," Allie admitted.

"I suppose that's one way of looking at it." She'd take what comfort she could. "Although I could have done without the whole cliche thing. I mean seriously? A bat? I think I would have preferred being a lion cub."

"My name's Kitty Pryde. I turn into a weird pun on my name," she pointed out. "Next time you be the lion and I be the bat?"

"Sounds like a plan. Is there anyway we can formally put that in writing?" Allie asked. "Or do we just cross our fingers and hope?"

"I think hope. Because I'm sure if we put it in writing the island would just laugh at us," Kitty said. "What can I get you, by the way?"
