Kitty was having one of those days where a lot of little things was going wrong. Forgetting her phone at home and having to go back for it, spilling quite a few things and deciding that maybe leather pants were a bad idea today, breaking a glass without the excuse of being really stupid to back it up, that kind of thing. By this point she was sort of just waiting for the next thing to go wrong.

"I would, which is why I did not just jinx both of us, because that would be mean," Kitty pointed out.

"You could have done it by accident," he said. "If I go outside and catch hypothermia I will know who to blame."

"Do I have to ask you not to catch hypothermia?" Kitty asked.

"I'm not quite that eager to prove someone wrong." Well... "If you were Derek then maybe, yeah, you'd have to ask."

Kitty frowned and asked, "Can I ask what's going on with you two?"

"Uh, we're not exactly friends right now? We weren't really friends before, but yeah, it got worse," he said. "He was mad that I didn't tell him about the shitty stuff that went down in his future, which is my past."

That was probably a Captain Obvious moment but it kept things straight in his head.

"Ahh." And knowing about Laura, she could kind of see why. "I was wondering what happened to the Der-Bear stuff. Why didn't you tell him?"

"Because he probably would have gotten himself killed trying to stop it," Stiles said. "He's alive in my timeline so I figured it was better to keep things as they were."

If he didn't seem very remorseful it was because he wasn't. He hated what happened to Laura, yes, but he justified his actions to himself awhile ago.

"He started texting me again to bitch about me getting him arrested so we're sort of talking now."

She couldn't really fault that logic. Well, she could, but she got where he was coming from.

"I'm surprised he told you about that," Kitty admitted. "But I'd say it's a good sign."

"Oh I expect him to bitch about every horrific thing the other me puts him through. It's not like he can complain to the source," Stiles said. "At this point the other me is probably still terrified of him and more likely to pull the 'my dad's the sheriff' card and get him shot."

"Please tell me that you doesn't do that," Kitty said.

"Uh...well not that exactly." But he did sort of send the cops after Derek more than once. "In my defense, Derek was way creepier back then."

"So... right about as creepy as he is now?" Kitty checked.

"Creepier. Like I would walk into my bedroom and he would be there creepy," Stiles said. "Maybe there's something in the Beacon Hills air that makes him a complete stalker."

And this was just the beginning. Soon he would be seducing teenage girls in morgues.

"He'd be in your bedroom?" she repeated. "Yeah, okay, that's super weird."

"Right? Of course I'd be terrified of him," Stiles said. "So whatever bad things he says about the other version of me keep in mind he was being super weird and mysterious to me at the time."

"He hasn't said anything bad about that version of you," Kitty said. "But I'll keep that in mind, since it sounds like I really should."

"I should probably warn you that things are gonna get worse for him," Stiles said. "Like, way worse. And when you think it's getting better it'll get worse again."

Such is life in Beacon Hills.

Kitty wasn't sure she wanted to know what was worse than your sister getting ripped in half.

Still, she asked, "On a scale of one to ten?"

"Um...an eight and a half?" And that was lowballing your uncle being your sister's murderer, the person that burnt your family to a crisp making a reappearance and becoming an utter failure of an alpha.

"That's not okay," Kitty decided, because of course she got to decide these things.

Stiles shrugged. "He lives through it."

Which was all that mattered in his deranged little mind.

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck," she said.

"True," Stiles agreed before taking a long drink of his beer. "I imagine he'll get mad and stop talking to me a few more times before this is over."

He would definitely deserve it for texting Laura's murderer frequently about things like Oscar nominations.

"This stuff was easier to hear about before I had friends here," Kitty sighed, "and it was all things I didn't have to actually care about." Even though she would have anyway.
