The beach- Monday afternoon/evening

Okay, so the weather on the unofficial first day of summer could have definitely been more summery. It wasn't cold or raining, though, just not as warm as Kitty would like for a Memorial Day party. And really, at this point, the weather just needed to stop messing with her plans. It was a shorts-and-bikini-top-under-a-hoodie type of day.

But the posters had been around town for days, there were drinks and snacks set up and music playing, and there was a little portable grill set up that someone else might have to take care of because Kitty didn't really want to. Everything was set up, so hopefully people showed up.

"The jalapenos were kind of fun," Clint admitted. "They made for awesome target practice."

"I also had to be a lion for it," Kitty pointed out. The kid was more fun for her than the peppers, really. "Though watching you was pretty great."

"You liked watching me?" Clint asked. He knew Kitty had probably been aware while she was a lion, but he was still a little surprised to hear that. "Was life as a lion that boring? I tried to keep you entertained with Lucky."

"I wasn't bored, and Lucky was great," she assured him, and shrugged. "I just don't get a lot of chances to see you in action when I'm not busy myself."

"That wasn't necessarily 'action,'" Clint pointed out with a shrug of his own. "I'm also not used to having an audience, or people right next to me. I usually do my schtick solo."

"Well, action or not, it was kinda hot," she told him.

Clint perked up at that and grinned at Kitty. "So, drag you along on all my practice, got it."

"I'm not sure you'd get as much practice done if you dragged me along every time," she teased.

"Hey, it'll help me practice not being distracted easily," Clint argued. "That's an important skill, you know."

"Oh, so I'd be helping," Kitty said. "Does that mean I should step things up then?"

"Step things up how?" Clint asked, already getting some ideas since hi, he'd met Kitty.

"Oh, I can't tell you that," Kitty told him. "It'd ruin the surprise. Remember, it'll help you."

Clint snickered. "Oh yeah, that doesn't sound scary at all."

"Not scary," she assured him. "Potentially happy." It depended on how he did.
