Caritas- Wednesday

Jaye had responded to spending the weekend as a responsible adult by just not going to work on Monday. Also, she was lazy and hadn't felt like dealing with people. So really, ditching work had been part rebellion, part laziness. Okay, mostly laziness.

But today Tino had called her in, and so she showed up, mostly for the tips. Okay, entirely for the tips. And because she could make herself a drink for free (as long as the boss didn't find out about it).

Ben had received a cryptic message from his grandfather about showing up at the bar today, so after leaving a cryptic message for his grandson, here he was.

At the bar.

To drink with his relatives. The family that drank together...something, right?

"Can I have an ale, please?"

Jaye blinked at the phrasing, but quickly got him a beer. Totally the same thing. "There you go."

Cade, dressed in a black wifebeater and leather pants because kark it if he was going to dress up to drink with his grandfather, slouched into the bar and found a stool a middling distance from Ben.

You know, just so it didn't look like he knew him or something. Because that would be bad.

"Hey, teach," he said. "Not the beeeeeeeeeeeeeees!"

Look at that, Jaye. Nic Cage was changing lives.

Anakin sauntered into Caritas and grinned when he saw who was behind the bar. "Hey, stranger."

"They don't come much stranger than me, no," Jaye admitted. "Where have you been?"

"Home, mostly," Anakin admitted. "Chris is teething and if Rory has to spend ten hours solid listening to him shrieking, so do I, at least if I want to sleep inside."

"So," Jaina greeted him. "What's all this about?"

"Anakin and I wondered if we could ban karaoke from the island," Anakin said. "Turns out no. So I invited my favorite people...and that guy..." he added, looking at Cade, "...to drink that sad fact away."

Anakin, likewise, had received a cryptic message, and as it happened he wasn't scheduled to head back to the Errant Venture until tomorrow morning anyway.

He wasn't much for drinking, but given the choice between keeping himself occupied and spending time with his family, well, he'd actually choose the family time.

He was perched on a stool, awkwardly fiddling with a napkin and constantly reaching for his multitool. Anakin really didn't get along well with casual social situations.

"I couldn't make them get rid of karaoke," Anakin explained to him. "So I thought we could drink instead."

Anakin blinked at him, but shrugged and went along with it. "Consolation drinking instead of celebratory drinking, huh?"

Cryptic messages abounded, apparently, because Jaina was here, too. She got a drink from Tino, found a seat, and strangled the life out of work made herself comfortable.
