There were definitely other things Kitty would rather be doing right now. But a girl's gotta pay her bills somehow, and so she would at least be here until she finally had it and took off to ~~jump~~ ~~see~~ jump Clint. She did not think she'd finish out her shift here, no.

So for now at least, the air conditioning was cranked, there were many regrets about the leather pants when it felt like it was a thousand degrees, and Kitty was trying really hard to keep her thoughts on work. Guess how that was going.

"Hi, you're pretty, I don't like this island. Beer me?"

Here, Kitty, have a mildly whiny employee.

"So are you and I don't like it, either," Kitty told him, getting him his beer and handing it over. "How're you holding up?"

"Some of the guys at work started looking alright to me today," Mike replied, holding his beer against his cheek because it was cool. Then he put it back down. "Fandom."

"Just remember, it'll probably be over in a couple days and then we can all go back to life as normal," Kitty said. And it better not happen again for a while.

"It better. I'm supposed to have an, uh, friend coming over this weekend and it'd be nice to be able to focus on more of a variety of things."

Compared to now when even thinking about Brooke was kind of a bad idea.

Not that he picked up on that.

"You don't have to, but it's not a special," Kitty said.

Well then. "Beer."

"I know, I know, I'm a stickler for the self-created rules," she said, handing him his beer.

"Uh huh," Dean replied, taking a long sip of his beer. It was a freakishly warm fall week, okay?

Batman toon a seat at the bar. "I'll have a water. No ice."

He was being a badass, even if that wasn't clear yet.

"That it?" she checked, getting a glass. It kinda helped that she was not a big Batman fan.

"Yes," Batman said. "I tend not to order anything fancy."

"And water is the actual exact opposite of anything fancy," she agreed, giving him his water, no ice.

"How's business tonight?" Batman asked before taking a sip of his water.

Allie had considered just hiding in the preserve until whatever this was had ended. But she'd ultimately decided that some company might make her misery easier to handle.

"I hate everything."

"And you're right to do so," Kitty agreed. "Anything in particular happen?"

"No, I've been pretty much hiding out and avoiding everyone," Allie admitted. "It's a lot less awkward that way."

"It really is." And yet Kitty was at work. "What brought you out tonight?"

"Misery, company and all that," she shrugged. "It was either here or go bitch at the deer in the Preserve."
