Outside MST3000 [Wednesday afternoon]

"Let's do something normal!" Anakin said in a voice that sounded nothing like Obi-Wan's, making a face as his lightsaber sliced through a kriffing flying eel. "Let's go see a movie! Nothing weird will be zooming around the island with their own kriffing anti-grav units trying to eat us or mate with us or whatever the frell these things want."

Another eel shrieked as it launched itself at Anakin's ankles. "Oh, shut up," he snapped at it.

Anakin had really wanted to see the latest movie about the short people and the dragon, okay?

"Anakin, do calm yourself."

Funny how Obi-Wan could still manage that tone of voice as he sidestepped an eel and sliced it neatly in two.

He let his self pull backwards ever so gently into the Force, rendering each blow more intuitive than the next. "As I recall, the movie was your idea."

"I'm calm," Anakin said, lightsaber blurring. "I'm just annoyed."

"An interesting distinction," Obi-Wan said dryly, fluidly running his 'saber through an eel with designs on the back of Anakin's ankles.

There were eels. Flying eels. And Atton had just wanted to see the stupid dragon movie. "Hope you two don't mind another lightsaber!" he snapped irritably, slicing through an eel with his yellow-bladed 'saber with notably less elegance than the other two. "Space, what gives?!"

Obi-Wan did a brief double-take he wasn't entirely proud of - he'd met Atton before, but that didn't make it any stranger to be fighting beside a piece of Jedi history.

"Feel free to cut in," he called, "The more, the merrier."

Atton pulled a face at him. "Was that a pun-- Gaslkjflskjdf."

Eel in his face, eel in his face!

"No idea," Anakin replied, "but I'm inclined to blame Barry until proven otherwise."

"Who's Barry, and what did he do?" Atton hollered back.

Cara totally hadn't been planning on assuaging her completely non-existent homesickness by going to see the movie with the scenery that reminded her of the Midlands.

So if she was attacking the eels with an extra viciousness, it had been a while since she'd killed something, okay.

Atton helpfully kicked a nearby eel into the path of her rampage. (Well, okay, it had nearly bit his toes off, that was why.) "Nice day for a movie!"

The eel shrieked even louder as Cara pressed an agiel against its head. "I thought so," she said through gritted teeth as it thrashed wildly.

"On your right," Anakin called out, not wanting to get in the way of a therapeutic animal killing.

Without missing a beat, Cara spun to the right, slamming her agiels into the eel's anti-grav unit, which started issuing forth sparks and an alarming amount of smoke. "Thanks."

Jones had only gone to the movies at the insistence of her friend James from the court. Something about how the movie portrayed interactions with dragons was apparently amusing.

By the time she arrived at the theater there were four or five eels gnawing on Jones. Or at least trying to. It didn't appear to bother Jones at all.

"One ticket please," she told the frightened man locked in the ticket booth as she reached into her puse... And pulled out another shrieking eel. She casually flung it against the wall and started rummaging through her purse for her billfold.

Anakin blinked at her. "Are these friends of yours?" he asked. "Because if so..."

Well, he'd killed a few of them. Oops?

"No. They merely attached themselves to me on the walk over," Jones replied evenly as she pulled out her billfold. "And as far as I can tell they don't have any means of communication so a conversation seems unlikely. I doubt any kind of friendship will happen."

Obi-Wan's eyebrow raised at her, even as he moved to combat more of his attackers. "Do you need some help with that?" he called.

"No thank you, I have currency to pay for my ticket," Jones replied with what looked like a grateful nod. A nearby eel spotted Jones and leapt at her face with a loud shriek. Jones caught it casually in her hand and crushed it without a thought. She then started going through her purse to find a tissue to clean her hand. "Are you going to the movie as well or merely defending this establishment?"

Jono had been about to make his way to Hannibal's place - they had plans to argue about fish and chips together, after all - when two steps outside of the Groovy Tunes, he heard a shrieking, and noticed the commotion down the street.

//Brilliant.//

And he was fairly certain those were lightsabers flashing about, which meant that the situation was probably well under control down that end of the street, but when an eel came up from his right and tried to take a chunk out of his shoulder?

Yeah, that was Jono with his wrappings being yanked off, leaving a few charred husks of eel twitching on the ground as he reluctantly joined the fray.

//I had been wondering when we were due again for something like this.//

Jono did put off an awful lot of energy; Obi-Wan couldn't say he was entirely surprised by the flames, though the form they took was certainly new.

"How many of these are there?" Obi-Wan called in his direction. "They seem to keep coming!"

A flash of his lightsaber left several chunks of eel scattering across the road, not too far from Jono's feet.

//Hundreds, easily,// Jono replied, kicking an incoming eel in the face before firing a blast of flame at the anti-gravity unit that was keeping it aloft. //I'd go out on a limb and say thousands, just given the concentration of them here, but that could just as easily be because you've been at this a while and drawing their attention.//

Lightsaber battles were not exactly quiet, after all.

//If we can manage a lull in the fighting, I can attempt to get a decent idea of numbers across the island, but as it stands, I'd much prefer to keep my attention on not being mauled.//

"The island has been attacked by floating eels before?" Jones as as she flung another eel against the wall.

//Never eels specifically, that I can remember,// Jono admitted, loosing a swath of flame at another three eels that had rounded a nearby corner. //There were flying piranha once, though. And falling sharks. The island seems to have some sort of strange fascination with airborne fish.//

"I'm moving if the sushi place does a barbecued eel special tomorrow," Anakin decided.

//That just makes me wonder if you're saying you're planning on moving closer to the sushi place,// Jono noted. //Don't you already not live on the island?//

He... wouldn't mind a barbecued eel day, himself. Mostly because the more eel people ate, the less they'd be stepping in tomorrow.
