Selkie Lake, Saturday Morning
Ada had fallen asleep in her tank last night. Where else did she sleep these days? But when she woke up... this, this water was fresh, she could feel the springs that were feeding into it, the cool currents sliding past her skin. Was that a rock? And another rock and... a fish? No one put fish in her tank, that was a recipe for disaster. Tasty disaster, but disaster.
A flip of her tail and Ada was barreling towards the surface at a speed no human could match, breaking past the water and-- huh. She couldn't see the bone yard anywhere. She recognized the smell of that bit of ocean, though, its familiar song starting to unfurl in the back corner of her brain as the sight of Selkie Peak loomed over her.
Ada sighed and hauled herself out of the lake on to a decent-sized flat slab of rock, ringing out her hair. "Well an' fine, I guess that's one way to get me to attend the reunion," she sighed, shaking her head. "Though can't say I much appreciate the magical kidnapping. You best put me back where you found me, Fandom, 'cause I got two shows on Monday when we hit Texas!"
And for the first time in three years, Ada Miller, the Arizona Mermaid and star of the Miller Family Carnival, was back in Fandom.

Dante - and his too tight t-shirt and his too-small pants - was pretty sure it had to be somewhere around here. ... Or maybe he'd barreled right past it. It'd been a while since he last visited Fandom, so sue him. And...
... that was a familiar voice.
Dante turned his head in the direction of it. Turned his path, too, feet beating against pavement until it hit grass. "Yo?"

"H'llo!" she called back, tail slapping against the rock as she tried to look around and spot where the sound was coming from. "Someone else actually out here?"

She reached up to tug at his pant-leg. "Sit your ass down an' give me a hug. 'M only a little damp."

But it was uncomfortable, so off it went, and then he was stepping into the water next to her rock. "Guess the island's got a special mermaid express."
no subject
She didn't really mean that; Ada would be perfectly happy out here all weekend, as long as someone stopped by occasionally. Besides, she knew how... uncomfortable she could make people. She didn't want to spend the weekend with everyone feeling sorry for her.

"Well, no wonder I can't find my crew," she said, plastering a grin on her face. Easier to act like there was nothing wrong if it was a good day...or if was a bad one. "They must have gone looking for the mermaid."

Or nearby Ada, just to be safe. One of those.

Ada's change hadn't taken away her sex drive, much to her chagrin. A girl still had needs, but most humans weren't interested in taking a swim with her in that sense. It was frustrating as hell, and meant she usually had to live vicariously through Hya.

"Which is how you know yet more than 'twas not I behind this," Hyacinthe laughed, leaning in to offer a proper kiss as well. "No gloating. Like I would have ever passed that up. Not when it meant I had finally pulled one over on Miss Ada Miller."

"You would be insufferable for weeks," Ada admitted, using her not-inconsiderable upper-body strength to push herself upright and give him a proper kiss in return. "Dante was here, earlier. He suggested putting me in a big water balloon and letting me bowl everyone over."

His own thoughts, and enough fruit to feed two. Using his Force sight meant he was attuned to other things, too.
"Ada. It's been a while."

...and maybe then she wouldn't try to eat the fish in the lake.

"There's nothing from home this time around," he admitted. "The jogan aren't in season yet and the Rhodian who usually imports meiloorun says his shipments have been held up thanks to a late winter where his supplier grows them. But I might have to pay you a visit when we're done our next harvest. The trees are doing so well these days, I almost always have more produce than I can sell in Tarkintown."
Yes, it had kept the name. Not out of reverence for the Imperial bastard who had driven them there, but more so that they could gloat about how thoroughly dead he was.
Kanan could appreciate that. He and Tarkin hadn't gotten along all that well, when they'd met.
