Tamsin's Office, Town Hall, Thursday Afternoon

"Didn't I give you the day off?"

Tamsin could distinctly remember giving Bright Eyes the week off, actually.

"Oh, no, no no no," Bright Eyes said, enthusiastically picking through stacks of paperwork. "No, no, no, we can't have that."

Tamsin pulled a face. "Well, can you at least have a day out of my office? Shoo. Go work at home."

Bright Eyes clutched the paperwork to her breast. (Several sheets of it fell to the floor.) "... Can I keep this?"

"Just get out of my sight," Tamsin sighed, and sank further into her chair.

Want to know the difference between how Tony had previously reacted to bad news (you know, since his life went to shit) and now? Having a moment alone to compartmentalize his feelings in order to appear in complete control!

"Are you busy?"

Tamsin heaved a sigh. "I was about to stop being busy," she said, "But look what the cat dragged in."

"Flatterer," he shot back dryly.

Tamsin rolled her eyes. "Blah blah, what can the mayor's office do for you today, blah."

He took a breath, looking around the office. "I was actually hoping to talk to you as a friend rather than the mayor."

Tamsin sighed and dropped the pen she was holding. "Fine," she said. "Who died this time?"

Such a beacon of empathy, she was.

He felt warmed by her empathy!

"No one died," he replied with a little bit of a twitch. "I just need some backup getting somewhere."

"Right," Tamsin said. She sat back. "What kind of backup?"

"Nothing dangerous," he added quickly. "I just--I need to get into a hospital without getting caught. I can handle the cameras fine, it's the--"

He huffed out a little laugh like it was pretty darn ironic if you asked him.

"-- human aspect that'll give me trouble."

There was a long pause. "The human aspect," Tamsin said flatly. "You've met me, right?"

"Have indeed," Tony replied with an easy grin.

[fjordicswagger]

"Ooookaaaay," Tamsin said slowly. She tilted her head. "What?"

"I'm counting on your sunny disposition to scare people off," Tony replied. "If you're up for playing doctor."

There was a kinky role playing joke in there somewhere. Some other time.

Tamsin processed that.

"Well, it's better than sitting here staring at paperwork all day," she finally said, tilting her head. "Let's go."

"I'll owe you one," Tony said, perking up a little like this had been a thoroughly pleasant surprise.

"You better buy me the next few rounds of drinks, that's for sure," Tamsin said, rolling her eyes again as she slid out of her seat.

"I would have done that anyway," Tony replied, walying backwards toward the door. "If only to control what could be thrown at me."

[fjordicswagger]

"Still afraid I'm going to dump a Virgin Mary on you?" Tamsin asked, walking after him.

"Consider it a healthy sense of self preservation." lolwhat.

[fjordicswagger]

"Since when do you have one of those?" Tamsin said dryly as they stepped outside.

"Recent acquisition." False.

He fell into step along side her, way too happy to have a different subject to discuss.

"I have a portal in my lab. Jessica built it."

"Of course she did." Tamsin smiled faintly. "That girl is way too much of a techhead."

"She's smart," Tony said with a shrug. "Better to apply it to something productive."

Rather than turn to a life of crime. Which totally seemed likely. Sure.

Yeah, Tamsin shot him a look. "Pretty sure whatever she chose to do would be way more productive than anything we've ever done," she said.

Tony shot her an amused look, but didn't disagree. "Don't doubt it."

He was firmly in the belief that Jessica would easily surpass him.
