The Street Between the Rocky Bits and the Park, Thursday Evening

The going was slow when you were a fifteen-foot monstrosity made of fire and molten stone. Or, rather, it felt that way. Every movement was a slow, deliberate one, but the extra height made up for it. One could clear a lot of road in a single step, when one was as tall as some of the buildings in town, after all.

So, what was the fifteen-foot monstrosity doing wandering the streets of town? If anybody asked Jonothon - and let's be real, most sane people probably wouldn't bother to try to strike up a conversation with him in the first place, and the island didn't typically have many of those left - he'd say he was doing patrols. Keeping an open psionic eye to be certain the hollows weren't wandering too close to the park. If you pressed him for a better answer, he might even give in and admit that curiosity had won out, that yesterday's flickers of sunshine and the wealth of new minds around the island today had him straying from the rocky bits mostly because... well... he needed to know.

But, of course, the going was slow. Not that he was in any particular hurry. It wasn't like the people here were going to be leaving any time soon, after all.

"Cuidado!" Hanna called, jogging up to join her. "Sharp." She made a face, then said, "oooowwie. Ouuuch." Yes, that. She smiled when she saw the birds. "Dinner. Food!"

An arrow wasn't going to hurt them, but Allu-Nika obediently listened, since it seemed fun. They floated away from the birds and the arrows just a bit, fuzzy hands behind their back so they weren't in the way.

Then, thinking better of it, they floated over to Hanna's shoulder to watch over it as Hanna worked.

She carefully removed the arrows, cleaning them efficiently and replacing them in her pack. Then tied the birds together at their feet, and put them in her bag. Then stood, and gave one feather to Allu-Nika.

"More?" She smiled a little. "Or pesce?" Fishing took more time, Allu-Nika would probably get bored.

Allu-Nika took the feather, it being ridiculously huge in their small hands, and giggled, giving it an experimental flap, before wheeling around with glee. They clutched their feather tightly, and pointed insistently at the birds.

More of those! They wanted more feathers!

Allu-Nika waved their feather around like it was a magic wand and was just as enchanted by it as if it really were magic.

Sometimes, Hanna almost remembered things. Sometimes it wasn't a bad feeling.

"Ja. Da. Hokay." She shouldered her bow, and sang out another bird call, following the sound to another stand of trees. "Come with!"
