Fast Eddie's, Tuesday Evening

Soooooo, apparently today was Sparkle's 21st birthday? Which was weird.

It was weird. And Sparkle hadn't really planned anything for it. He always found it easier to make a big deal out of other people's big days than his own. And anyway, what did 21 mean? He could use real identification to drink now? Where was the fun in that?

But he wanted to do something, so he sent off a handwavey text to anyone on his contact list just saying, Fast Eddie's tonight, the multiverse has had to deal with 21 years of me, suckers, and then hopped through a portal to Fandom Island to crash the arcade.

... No, he didn't have anything in mind beyond that. No real party or anything. Just, hey, come to the arcade. Waste some quarters. Maybe somebody would show up. It'd be great. And he was kind of grinning like an idiot as he showed up, since he'd made a stop at the apartment first.

Aww, Sia. Unsolicited presents were kind of great.

Things had been busy on Arrakis, but Leto did have people he could rely on to make sure nothing turned out to badly while he spent an evening in Fandom celebrating Sparkle's birthday.

He had considered making this a surprise, but then he had got an invitation, so that didn't really work. But he was here, stepping through the door and looking around for Sparkle.

Why yes, Sparkle was making what was practically a flying leap at Leto, arms outstretched, looking for a whole lot of kisses. See, he was easy to please for his birthday. Kisses from his favourite Atreides, please.

Of course he was going to get kisses, as many as he wanted. It was his birthday after all, and added to that the enjoyment was mutual.

In between kisses, Leto managed: "Happy Birthday. I couldn't resist the invitation."

"Why did I come here again?" Atton grumbled, eyeing an arcade machine skeptically. "I just left this place!"

This was nearly identical to what he'd been saying about the Temple just two days ago.

"Because I just ordered pizza," Sparkle offered. Because he wasn't above bribing anybody to stick around for his birthday anyway. "And there are no Padawans here."

"Steak would've been better," Atton told him. "But fine, I accept your transparent attempt to bribe me."

"Oh, you," Karina said lightly. "I see you're still around. Sparkle hasn't gotten you killed yet?"

... Now there was a voice he hadn't heard in a long time.

"Karina?" Atton said, surprised (and maybe it was a little pleased surprise, though he wouldn't admit it if you asked him at gunpoint). "He's been trying, but he's terrible at it."

Eliot wasn't there in person -- Sparkle didn't need an old guy cramping his party's style -- but he did send along a present, along with a note:

Oh, Sparkle so intended to drink that. Slowly, and appreciatively.

Drinks like that, you respected.

... Unless there was trauma involved. But currently there wasn't.

So, slowly, and appreciatively. He'd have to write a note back to Eliot to thank him.

Since Sparkle was one of the few people on the island who might come close as being her friend, Seivarden had, after some thought, decided to show up. She didn't know how people here celebrated their Birthdays, but judging from the place there would be people eating with their hands.

She had got a few flowers from the shop and arranged them nicely. That was the only thing she could think of, since getting Sparkle tea would be pointless. She was just going to drop them off and leave as soon as she could.

Sparkle found the flower arrangement and kind of tilted his head at it. And then smiled an uncertain sort of smile.

Huh. He actually hadn't been expecting anything from Seivarden. He wasn't complaining, even if he was faintly confused. But this was totally coming back to the temple with him later.

"Tanjoubi omedetou!!!" Sparkle, you were prepared for a glomp-bombing Minako, right? Because, well, you'd made the mistake of letting her know what going on.

She'd pretty much torn through a few portals to get here. Portalocity was so annoyed with her right now.

"MINAKO."

Seriously, Sparkle's evening was going to be spent yelling names and launching himself at people. Hell yes, he was prepared for a glomp-bombing.

This might not be Hannibal's usual choice of venues (his own birthday party aside), but it was Sparkle, so he had to show up.

And he came bearing a bottle of Bainbridge Legacy Organic Vodka and a kit for molecular mixology. Along with a bonus molecular gastronomy kit and a recipe book, because why stop at drinks?

All of it, naturally, wrapped in shiny plaid and with bright yellow ribbons.

"Doctor Lecter," Sparkle greeted, looking his way and giving him a little nod and a smile. "Sorry about the total lack of notice. I wasn't actually planning anything."

Except then he had, oops.

"Lame."

Yeah, so, there was a voice he hadn’t heard for a while, huh?

Karina leaned against one of the machines, her eyebrows raised.

"Twenty one and this is what you do?" Her tone said she was judging him hard, but she was a) smiling and b) was carrying a present.

So.

"Twenty one and I want all my nearly-twenty folks to be able to attend too," Sparkle drawled, perking up as soon as he heard the voice. "Anyway, where's the fun now that I don't have to fake it?"

Booooring.

That said, he was making his way over to greet her, beaming.

"Holy shit, you came? You came!"

In what was probably going to be a theme for the evening, Peter showed up, bearing a bottle of pretty decent gin. Hey, it was tradition!

It wasn't wrapped, though; it just had a bow around it.

"Happy birthday, Sparkle!" he called out toward him.

"Peter, hey!" Sparkle wasn't going in for the tackle and hug, no. That was mostly reserved for his lady friends and that guy he kissed a lot, but he was going to saunter over with a grin all the same. "Thanks! Good to see you here, man."

He was kind of impressed how many people were coming to an arcade for him. Aww.

Miguel had no idea what to get Sparkle, except that he should get him something.

And apparently alcohol was traditional. So, because he was a troll, he'd brought him some.

And because he wasn't a complete ass, he'd asked Gabe what normal twenty-one-year-olds liked, and ended up with a small console that could download games off the 2099 version of the web. It was Gabe's hand-me-down, but it was holographic?

"Miguel I love you but you're evil."

Yes, someone had spotted the spider before spotting the Spider.

"Oh my god."

Karina was staring at the... spider vodka.

"Oh my God," she said, horrified. "Why?"

Cade had a Force-sense for the potential of free food, so there he was. "Happy birthday, my man. Where's the booze?"

And of course, Sparkle laughed.

"I brought a case of beer of anybody wants to raid it," he shared, "but for you, I'm thinking just a mug of juice from a jar of hot peppers."

A pause.

"We can throw some hand soap and grass in for texture!"
