Today might be a state holiday in the United States, but Hannibal was well aware that not all of the people on Fandom were aware of that, and he was quite content to hold class today anyway.

Particularly since "class" consisted of going somewhere lovely to eat.

He smiled at those who showed up as they waited for the portal.

"Good evening. Today is a holiday in the country we are nominally a part of. Apart from its own meaning, for many, it marks the beginning of summer, and as such, barbecuing - cooking outside over an open flame - is traditional. So, today we will be eating meat cooked over an open flame. But not in this country."

He waved them through the portal to a street in São Paolo. "Welcome to Vento Haragano, a Brazilian Churrascaria - roughly translated, a place for barbecue. Their specialty is meat - a wide variety of high-quality meat - and wine, also of a wide variety and high quality. You pay a flat price to dine; the sides are served as a buffet, so you may take what you like of them. The meat is brought around to the table on skewers, and you may tell the waiters how much you would like of each, and what sort of cut you would prefer. I encourage you all to experiment and determine what you like."

They walked in and were led to a small room to one side, where they would have somewhat more privacy than the main room. "The primary language here is Portuguese. I speak only a little of it, but many here will also speak English or Spanish. The maitre d' knows both, should you have questions."

He waved them to their seats.

Meat on sticks? Kanan could absolutely get behind that, yes. Maybe he could convince Cookie to do something like that at Luke's one of these weekends, instead of pancakes.

After being lectured by Hannibal two weeks ago, Seivarden had skipped last week. That was perhaps a mistake, as French food would probably have suited her better.

She kept quiet, pretending to be a lot more relaxed than she felt, while holding back the urge to complain, and even more so, actually admitting to herself how out of place she felt.

That keeping quiet was a good idea. And while Hannibal could tell she was still annoyed, he doubted many others could, so he would accept that.

It was a beginning.

Ino didn't make it a habit to read other peoples' minds just--okay, she totally did, but she didn't make it a habit to read other Fandomite's minds just for random funsies. Usually.

But it didn't take a mind reader to notice that something was hinky between random-Fandom-stranger and Hannibal.

"Yo," Ino said, wandering over. "I'm Iris. Do you think they could add more brown in here?"

Ino felt no shame--none!--at having missed the first two weeks of class. But she was here today. Mostly as a distraction, but hey, she was here. And studying the decor.

Which was very... brown. Nice! But, you know, brown. She was trying to decide if it really was a cowboy on the wall, over here in... wherever Hannibal had taken them, or if she was missing something.

She'd thought cowboys were an American thing, but maybe Ino had misunderstood something along the way.

Maybe it was just some dude in a wide-brimmed hat and a pipe. That didn't have mean a cowboy, right?

"Iris!" Kanan grinned and gave Ino a wave. "Hey, good to see another familiar face at one of these things. In the mood for meat on sticks today?"

Zack would have taken one look at this place and turned himself inside-out trying to get back out again.

Amaya Blackstone was a simple woman, really. You call her up and tell her there'd be meat on sticks, and she'd be there with bells on. And just like that, Dr. Lecter got her to attend his fancy eating class after all, and she was even a little excited about it, especially getting an eyeful of a different place while they were at it, too.

The menu is on their site; I encourage you to use Google Translate for it if you don't speak Portuguese. It's...Googlish...but at least it'll give an idea.

It had to be better than local takeaway. Seivarden picked chicken, pork, chicken hearts and some cheese. She had no idea what she had ordered, and stared at the wine list, having no idea what to choose. Maybe close her eyes and point?

If she wasn't allowed to voice her opinion on things she could at least get to a stage approaching drunk.

So long as it was a decorous drunk, she was welcome to do so. If she got annoying, Hannibal reserved the right to ship her unceremoniously home. And to withhold her medications.

Seivarden usually liked Amaya, despite her background, but she found it hard to appreciate people talking with food in their mouth. Still, it wasn't as bad as eating with bare hands, and while looking away a little, she said:

"I don't see why. What did you get?"

Hannibal looked slightly pained at that talking with her mouth full, but he answered nevertheless. "It is expected, in fact. Simply ask them over and tell them which cut you would like. Get a little of everything so that you have room for the rest."

Somewhere near the end of the class, Kanan found himself approaching Hannibal. He wasn't going to do anything to draw attention to it during the meal itself, for several reasons, but seeing Seivarden essentially drinking with intent to get drunk during it had left him...

Well. Twitchy. He had a lot on his mind and he'd already failed at attempts to quit since coming to the island twice before. If Seivarden wanted to be an obnoxious sleemo in Lecter's classes, that was between her and the Doctor, but Kanan had his own concerns he wanted to discuss.

"Hey, Dr. Lecter? I don't suppose you have a moment to chat one-on-one, do you?"

I was surprised to find out that apparently Brazilian steakhouses are actually a Brazilian thing. Go figure!
