The zombies had fully embraced their country phase, and it was driving Kitty nuts. It wasn't her taste in music, but but she was fine with them expressing themselves. Except that they kept stopping and retrying things in an effort to get even twangier.

This was all Zombie Yoko's fault. Had to be.

Anyway, Kitty was here and considering earplugs!

"That music is terrible," Seivarden said, leaning against the bar. "Can't you get them to play something else?"

"Not really. They're practicing to record their next album," Kitty sighed.

"They record things?" Seivarden said. "Who buys it? Anyway, so whisky, tequila, vodka, rum, have you got anything else?"

[throughaphase]

"Oh, they've got a merch table by the sage. You can buy their whole catalogue," she said. "Have you tried beer?"

"Yeah, I've tried that. I prefer the stronger drinks. Tequila again, then, unless you have something else to suggest. Or maybe one of those things you mix. Yes, one of those. Surprise me."

As it wasn't tea she wasn't going to be offended, whatever it was.

"I suppose they're safe from being punched at least."

"You don't want to try punching a zombie anyway," she said, getting a glass to start working on a margarita. The twang hurt her brain and that was easy. "Their faces would cave in."

She made a face. "You're right. Can't they make them before the corpses have decayed? Or are they made? I just assumed they were."

[throughaphase]

Kitty frowned. "You mean can zombies be made before they fall apart?" she said. "I mean, they fall apart because they're zombies."

"We don't have zombies where I'm from, so I wouldn't know," she said. "If they are made, it would just seem more sensible."

She shrugged.

[throughaphase]

"They're people who died and then came back to life, sort of," she said, mid-margarita shake. "They're undead. Not sure how much of the general pop culture lore applies to what actually happened in their case."

Seivarden knew the Radchaai ancillaries, people who had their minds wiped when connected to a ship AI, was often referred to by non-Radchaai as corpse soldiers. When looking at the zombies, she was reminded of how inaccurate that name was. Ancillaries weren't dead, after all.

"I'm sure they defy reason in some way, like most things here." She made a face. "That music, though."

"They've got one or two bops, all things considered," Kitty allowed, sliding over the drink. "But this country phase is going to make my pull my own brains out of my head."

She could do it too!

Seivarden sipped the drink. "It's sweet." She wasn't complaining though. "Are you sure they're just not not trying to encourage people to get drunk?"

"No," she said. "But if they are I should probably be thanking them."

"You have a point," Seivarden said, then added: "This is the kind of drink you sip on, right?"
