The Park, Thursday Sundown Onwards! -- Zack's Birthday Party!

Ino had not quite strung the entire park with fairy lights, Chinese lanterns, streamers and balloons, but she'd come close. It was probably also best to not ask where the extra tables and chairs had come from too.

In the sunset light, she thought the set-up looked pretty good. Especially when she figured in the tables of food and drinks would keep people happy and entertained. In keeping with tradition of kidnapping things from the Boards/Groovy Tunes and apologizing to Jono later, she'd stolen the stereo.

(Honestly, it had been the easiest theft ever. All she'd had to do was mention an adventure to the park and it had unplugged itself.)

And, to crown it all off, there was a very large, very sparkly, banner that read:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ZACK!!!!!

Yeah, it was going to be a good party. She could feel it.

First of all, Summer was never one to miss a party if she could help it. And secondly, she had kind of just built an entire class around going to this one and live-tweeting it, so it would be pretty stupid of her if she didn't show up, right?

Did she know Zack? Not really, but, hey, what better chance to get to know someone than turning their birthday party in one of the hottest social media events on the island?

Not that there were any social media events to compete with, but, you know, whatever. She was here, she brought vodka-infused jello, and she was ready to party!

Seivarden wasn't in the best of moods, but maybe a party would be a good distraction, and besides, she liked Zack.

She ended up leaning against a tree, arms crossed, watching people gathering with a tired expression on her face.

Honestly, when Amaya got the email about the birthday party in the park, she was...mostly just glad it wasn't a Stark and Rogers party, because she was sticking by her theory that weird stuff always happened at a Stark and Rogers party.

So now she'd see if it was just their parties or if all parties on the island were somehow altered by the state of the island. So far, though, this one was seeming pretty normal, and she sure hoped it stayed that way.

Kaidan would have greatly preferred anyplace without trees, but especially anywhere other than the park.

It was Zack, though, and Iris. He headed to the Perk to suck down enough caffeine to give him the jitters - or to at least be the excuse for the jitters he had. He'd picked up Zack's gift at the mainland the night before. He dropped it off on the gift table and went to lounge against a tree.

Stupid tree. Take that.

"What do you have against trees?" she wondered, offering him a bottle of water.

Seivarden wasn't going to ruin Zack's party by causing an argument, but when she saw Kaidan she decided to at least say something. Approaching him, she smiled a deliberately ingenuine smile and said:

"So, I have to admit, I'm actually curious what that message you left Peter was about. And why it was left to him and not to me."

"Oh, Kaidan, hi!" Of course Summer would use the comfortable structure of a party to get put there and mingle. Especially maybe with particular people. "You a friend of Zack's, too?"

Imagine finding out that your Puppy Pusher not only knew about chobobos, but that he could summon them back on his world, and then imagine finding out a few days after that that it was his birthday!

Oh, Prompto was so there for this. He just only wished known sooner so that he could have arranged to have something chocobo-related shipped in from home to offer as a present. He'd still see what he could do, but it would just have to wait, but that could be a nice surprise, anyway.

And he was, of course, snapping some pictures of what had been done to the park because it looked great! And of course the sparkly banner. Yet another thing he totally loved about this place...the healthy respect and liberal use of obnoxious amounts of wonderful glitter!

Zack was not only Sidon's benevolent boss and trustworthy teacher, but he was also (or so he certainly hoped) a very good friend, so it would truly be rather churlish of him if he were to not join in the festivities celebrating his birth! Plus, Sidon did love a good party and was eager to see who else might be there, and he enjoyed that it was outside and at the park, where he could enjoy the fresh air and the proximity to the pond.

Mitsutada arrived unsure of the customs and also of the guest of honor. But hey, it was a party, and he needed to get out more.

So there he was, awkward man in a track suit, eyepatch, and gloves, to socialize.

Kanan really didn't know the birthday boy in the least, but he was here anyway, largely because of Summer's class, at least partly because he hadn't taken Stance for his evening walk yet.

So that would be Stance, seeing people getting all excited, and doing the giddy-puppy-prance by Kanan's side, hoping Kanan would give him permission to go on a tear around the park to visit everyone while Kanan himself stood to the side and took pictures of his dog for Twitter.

It was literally the only thing that Twitter account existed for.

Hannibal wouldn't miss a party for a friend, even if he were more friends with Iris than Zack. So he was showing up with a good bottle of wine for Iris and a present for Zack.

He looked around for her and waited until she had a moment free.

Three kinds of beer, various sodas, and water were available. Every moddable dish had a little card in front of it labelling it as vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free, and listing the ingredients.

The best table, though, was the one with the chocolate cake, the strawberry shortcake, the red velvet cake, and the apple and pumpkin pies.

What? More desserts were always better at a birthday!

Of course Zack was here! It would be a weird birthday party for Zack if he wasn't. He'd grabbed himself a veggie burger, and was smiling brightly as he used one of the paper plates as a frisbee for Girl to chase.

Kaidan had hit up the mainland for his. It wasn't really for Zack, but he thought Zack would enjoy it anyway. He'd asked Rosalie where to get gourmet dog treats and she'd directed him to someone she knew.

So yes, he brought the puppy a box of dog treats - for Girl. They were small square treats with what looked like frosting on them and happy puppy faces piped on. The box was brightly wrapped with more festive ribbon on it than a box that size warranted. The card explained that the gift were treats for Girl, so Zack didn't accidentally eat one. Though, from the ingredients list, he probably could. The card read, "Happy birthday, Zack! Felicitations on another orbit of the sun! - Kaidan"

Seivarden had bought a box of good tea and managed to wrap it nicely. She had debated whether to buy it from Iris, which would be a little strange, or from Amaya, who was a competitor. In the end she had bought it from Iris provided she has tea in stock now, not telling her it was a gift for Zack.

Tea was, after all, a very proper birthday gift.

Hannibal set his smartly wrapped present on the table for Zack to open whenever he felt like it.

Inside was a home-crafted recipe book - Hannibal's neat writing on each page explaining what the recipe was and how to make it. Each recipe was gourmet, but adjusted to be vegetarian and fairly simple.

A card stuck inside read, These recipes are for you to make. Choose an evening and I will also have you and Iris over for dinner, just for the two of you.
