Iris' Birthday Party, Groovy Tunes, Sunday Evening

As was quickly becoming fine tradition in these parts, Jono's business was getting repurposed tonight for the sake of a party for Iris. Of course, today it wasn't Iris doing the repurposing. Zack had made his way back after the job fair and had pretty much gone to town decorating the stage area of the Groovy Tunes with... balloons and streamers, mostly.

Far too many balloons and streamers.

He had no idea how parties worked, okay? But since she had gone to town with his party, he felt kind of obligated to organize a party that was at least half as exciting.

So, balloons. Streamers. Cans of silly string because that seemed like a party thing? And glowsticks. Who didn't like glowsticks, right?

... Zack had flailed his way through the party prep, mostly.

Anyway, he'd sent out e-mails to pretty much everyone Iris had sent them out for his birthday (so, everybody?) and now he was kind of just sitting back and looking faintly bewildered. Zack had no idea how to party, no.

Grab some silly string! Steal a glowstick! There's totally some music-- the stereo likes Iris just as much as the rest of you. Make yourself comfortable in the theater seating or on the stage or whatever. YOU DO YOU.

Hernando arrived and after placing his gift on the table, picked up a glowstick to fidget with and took a seat in the theater area. He smiled and waved at Zack and Iris and would catch up with them when they were done smooching chatting.

Kaidan arrived, took one look at the sheer volume of balloons and valiantly tried not to giggle. Oh, Zack. Buddy. A+ for effort, absolutely.

It was adorable. So very Zack.

Well, duh, of course Prompto had to come to this party once he got the email, because Zack and Iris were awesome, and Zack was now also his boss, too (honestly, it was really impressive that he'd gone this long without glomping onto that perspective), and who didn't love a party anyway?

Especially a party with glow sticks and silly string.

If he wasn't pretty much covered in the latter by the end of the night, then he clearly had done his partying wrong.

Kanan was here, yes. And he was giving an amused look around at the multitude of balloons as he took in the whole... motif.

Please, of course Jono was going to be here. And not just because his business had been stolen for this party again, either.

He was giving the balloons such a side-eye, though. He was going to be pulling those from the rafters for months, wasn't he?

Well, it would certainly be in poor taste to receive an invite to Iris's party and not make an appearance, especially when Zack had clearly gone through the trouble of making it quite the event as Iris had done for him. Sidon had to smile a little for that; so charming, these two! And he'd rather enjoyed getting to meet Iris last time. It was an honor to get to wish her a happy birthday was well.

Also, he simply had to compliment Zack on the decor when he had a chance. He was particularly fond of the balloons.

The day Summer received an email for a party and didn't go would be the day Summer was probably dead. And she liked Iris a lot so far; she definitely connected with her more than she had Zack, really.

She almost felt as if she'd set herself her own precident, too, because she couldn't help herself from getting a shot of the scene and sending it straight to Twitter.

Seivarden didn't know Iris that well, but she appreciated her tea - when Sparkle didn't buy all of it - and Zack had arranged it and that was a reason too.

So here she was, trying not to step on balloons while looking at that glowstick she was holding in her hand.

Fjord had mentioned the email. He'd seemed a little confused by it. Fenris had met Zack, and was bored and curious to wander into town and follow the crowd to the party.

He acted casual and tried to look like he belonged. There were at least a couple people he'd met before.

Amaya had been...a little bit on the fence when an email came through about another party. Sure, she'd chatted with Iris a little and liked her well enough, but she also didn't see the two of them exactly becoming friends. But she also knew that she really should socialize more, and, if anything, she could make an appearance, maybe leave a small token of a gift, and call it a decent attempt. Overall, it just felt a little rude not to, and her sense of professionalism just didn't allow her to be rude to someone connected to a sword like Zack's.

...it was a really, really nice sword, okay? Amaya had dreams about swords like that...

Really, it was on offer but he was having more fun attempting to be clandestine about it.

As clandestine as an elf with a plate full of cake could every really be. Which is to say: not very.

Hernando had found a set of four matching tea cups. They were antique Japanese porcelain, so delicate they were translucent. They were painted with a watercolor style of cherry blossoms. Bowl shaped, they had no handle nor saucer. Each was carefully bubble wrapped inside a sturdy wooden presentation box lined with velvet.

He'd thought of Iris the moment he'd seen them. Convenient she had a birthday so soon after.

Kaidan had left a brightly wrapped box tied with super fancy silver ribbon. A small paper tag read, "Fragile - do not shake."

Inside was a spun-sugar vase done in pink and white swirls filled with what looked like crushed Oreos - the cookie part, not the creamy filling. Occasionally the 'dirt' would shift as living gummi worms crawled through inside. Taped to the side of the vase was a small plastic baggie with three Jujube candies, red yellow and green. Two more bags filled with lemon drops and gumdrops were also in the box.

A hand-made card read:
'Have you ever heard of the Jujube Tree?
‘Tis a marvel of great renown!
Its blooms may be any of red, yellow, or green
In Iris' garden in Fandom Town;
The fruit that it bears is so wondrously sweet
(As those who have tasted it say)
That one is just all that you have to eat
Of that fruit to be happy next day.'

- Plant Jujube seeds in the enclosed planter.
- 'Water' with lemon drops and gumdrops.

Summer didn't really have time to plan for much of a jello to offer, but there was a really super cute pink and glittery gift bag for Iris from Summer, with a little notecard telling her as much, a Turtle & Canary gift card, and several boxes of fixtures that could be perfect for any future stolen signs.

Miguel had put himself in no small amount of personal danger to get a bit of DNA he probably really shouldn't have, then spent a lot of time in his lab in the Panoptichron.

The result was on the table - a plant with knotty roots and one large stalk holding a pitcher-shaped flower in varying degrees of lovely purple. It flicked a yellow tongue-like stigma out a few inches from time to time.

It was set far to the back with a huge sign in front - DO NOT TOUCH. VENOMOUS.

The card in front of that read, One of this thing's parents is a maneater. The other is an iris. I thought you'd approve. This one should only get about a foot tall, it stays rooted, and its venom (a neurotoxin) isn't instantly deadly. You'll still want to keep an eye out for it and make sure it likes you.
